Winner Winner CHICKEN DINNER!
Folks I have to say that I'm quite impressed. I've kept the Martin Lifespans on my Guitar since I bought it because I like the performance fine. But D'Addario sent me a set of these and after messing up and crossing the 3rd & 4th strings breaking one, I completed the install last night by buying another set and putting on the proper strings on the proper course. Then proceeded to play my heart out for several hours. This string set is about as close to a direct replacement from the set that came on the guitar that you can get size wise. But wow what a difference in the tone and projection it has made in this guitar. My 15 has never been a muddy guitar in my mind. It has had mellow under tones that rounded the mid range nicely and a reasonable support of the treble side of the spectrum. But with these strings the clarity and at the mid and upper range was clearly brought out so much better than the the Lifespans did. (and I have to correct myself here.. better isn't the right phrasing.. more is perhaps more correct because it is only different) For my predominately finger style of play these strings are awesome on the D-15.Now bonus volume; I can't tell you how much more but it is considerably more volume coming out of this instrument especially when attracted with a pick. When using a pick the guitar becomes much more aggressive that it ever has been capable of.Bottom line is that I haven't lost anything with these string but I have gained considerable definition in the mid and upper spectrum and more volume which allows me to to back off a bit to achieve the same level of output as before or to dig in and produce more output than ever before. If it sounds like something you'd like to have out of your mahogany guitar you should give these a try.As a follow up to this thread...I just got back in town a few days ago after being away for my moms passing at 94 & 3/4's as she insisted in having published in her obit....Last night was the first opportunity I had to sit with my dearest friend in my studio my Martin D-15 with the strings in question now on a few weeks played some sitting some idle as well. So it is easy to say that they have settled in a bit.I must say I like them even better than I did at first blush. They perform remarkable with the all mahogany Martin 15 series body. I can't get over how this guitar that has always excited me from the core has now found a new way to grab ahold of me and shake my soul even more so with these strings. D'Addario has a winner with these, at least with this guitar string combo.

The set made for mandolin worked incredibly well!
I tried a set of these for mandolin which were EXCELLENT (they lasted for about SIX MONTHS) and so bought a few sets for my guitar too, which I've yet to install. On the mandolin, they sound spectacular, were very easy on the fingers and improved the action noticeably (there's a lot of sliding around the frets on purpose when playing mandolin) -- if you happen to also use string and fingerboard cleaner/conditioner too, they'll REALLY last for a long time (for example, just picking up the instrument and noodling around). When I'm planning on traveling to play a gig, or jam with friends, I'll change out my strings of course. While I quite liked the D'Addario equivalent of these for my mandolin, on the advice of my favorite luthier/retailer/reseller guy, I tried basically the same thing by Elixir (also 80/20s, but lights), and ended up liking those even more for mandolin. Still, as well as the Elixir strings, I still buy these and keep a couple of sets around for my mandolins and guitar, as they're usually cheaper. For emergencies, I keep around a few sets of D'Addario lights for both instruments (J62 for mandolin) and for when all else fails, also a few sets of the best cheapest strings I've found for both guitar and mandolin, Martin lights for bluegrass (sometimes medium light or even medium for my guitar particularly). Anyway, as soon as I get 'round to doing it, I need to change the strings on my guitar and will replace them with a set of these, which I imagine will perform just as well as they did on my mandolins -- notice they are 80/20s, but still are called Medium gauge. It's a strange world....

Amazing
I don't ever write reviews, but I need to for these. I've been playing guitar for almost ten years. I would try new strings but nothing would work. These strings are by far thee best acoustic strings I have ever owned, and now will ever own. I can't say enough about them. My problem with strings is that after a couple times of playing, that nice "twang" sound alway faded. I put these strings on over a week ago. I play for hours and hours a day, and that nice "twang" is still there. I have a Gibson B-25 acoustic and a R. W. Jameson electric acoustic, and these strings compliment both guitars in different ways. When I read reviews an people say, "buy this product," I'm still sketchy and in a way ignore it. I promise you that these will not disappoint you. I highly recommend purchasing these strings. Trust me on this. I'm just like most of you who are reading this. I'm one person out of many who write reviews, so why does my word matter? I've purchased a well amount of different things off Amazon, and each time I read the reviews. All the one star two star ratings are people who are idiots and don't know to take care of whatever what ever of those I've gotten. Given no matter what, every company will have a "bad line," so although rare, you possibly could just get a bad package. Don't make your judgement off of that. Contact D'Addario to get a new package. I'm sorry this is so long, but I needed to get my point across. I've never will purchase any other string for my acoustics from now on. Please give these a chance and I hope this review helps.

POOR SERVCE
I ORDERED A SET OF THESE STRINGS AND WHEN THEY ARRIVED THERE WAS NO CARDBOARD D'ADDARIO POUCH WITH THE PLASTIC SEALED BAG INSIDE, JUST THE PLASTIC BAG WITH THE STRINGS INSIDE, HOWEVER THE BAG WAS HOLED MEANING THERE WAS NO ANTI CORROSION SEAL. NATURALLY I WAS NOT HAPPY. I SENT THE STRINGS BACK AND ORDERED ANOTHER SET. WHEN THESE ARRIVED, SURE ENOUGH NO CARD POUCH, JUST THE PLASTIC PACKET, FORTUNATELY IT WAS AIR TIGHT. ARE THESE GENUINE?, I NOTED FROM OTHER SUPPLIERS THAT D'ADDARIO DO SUPPLY IN BOXES OF 10, ARE AMAZON SUPPLYING SINGLES FROM THIS SORT OF BOX, IF SO, THEY SHOULD SAY, SO WE ARE AWARE THERE IS THE POTENTIAL OF DAMAGE TO THE SEALED BAGS IN TRANSIT. I BOUGHT THESE FOR FUTURE USE, SO I CAN'T GIVE ANY INDICATION AS TO THEIR QUALITY. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH AMAZON, THIS IS NOT WHAT I EXPECT FROM THEM. BASED ON MY COMMENTS,YOU CAN MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND IF YOU WANT TO PURCHASE THESE STRINGS.

i never realised how good they were until i went back to normal strings
Ive always used just regualar strings and never bothered with the exp coated ones. The prices mainly put me off them to be honest.I think when i bought them i was expecting a dramatic differnce in sound, to which there is none.I think i restrung roughly a month later and swore i wouldnt buy these strings again as i didndt see the difference. Then within 2 days of putting on regular Daddrio strings they had already lost their colour and were sounding dull. The same happens with martin strings aswell. After 2-3 days they dull and the fresh string sound has gone completely.Id say these strings have a good 2-3 weeks before theyl lose colour and youl be wanting a change. If you want to keep your guitar sounding fresh, which i think everyone does go with exps. Theyre more expensive but absolutely worth it. Really u save money in the long run as they do last a lot longer.

Amazon back to it's usual tricks again!
When I buy an item that is supposed to be new, I expect it to be NEW. I do not want to receive somebody else's return, stuck back in the packet and sellotaped shut and resold. If it had a problem the first time, I do not want that problem repeated for me. I do not want a label stuck onto the generic product by a middle man claiming to be the item I wanted when in fact it is more likely to be the excess stock item that he wants to get shot off. That is what I got with these two items! I sent them straight back for a refund and shall buy elsewhere (We all know the alternative!)

Guitar Strings
Theses strings are superb they really make my guitar sing the way I want it to.Ok so the strings aren't wrapped in their usual packaging they are on two individual spools/reels also D'Addario give you free gifts if you return the spools/reels back to them once you are done with them although 25 sets are gonna take some time to use that is but it is all good plus by buying them this way you are saving quite a bit of cash. They are worth it enhances the guitar sound also they last longer keeping there tone.definitely worth it I personally won't go back to using standard strings ever again praises to D'Addario Many Thanks...............

Great quality, tone and longevity with extra brightness and punch
I love D'Addario strings, for their quality, tone and longevity, but had never tried the 80/20s until I felt that my small bodied hog top needed something a bit brighter than the phosphor bronze. These did not disappoint, and have a similar fantastic tone as standard D'Addarios but with a brighter top end and punchier bass. I cannot recommend them enough, especially if you have a small bodied guitar. These strings last a long time too, even if you play really hard and often, and don't get any of that horrible flakey wear that Elixirs get after a week of serious use. Absolutely top rate professional choice of guitar string.
