Works for a 2005 prius stolen catalytic converter
Someone stole my catalytic converter by sawing it off of the resonator, and this catalytic converter worked great to get my 2005 prius back up and running. If you recover the bolts with springs, you will only need to purchase some exhaust clamps (1.75 inch from autozone for a few bucks, SureBilt 1 3/4in 17122) to finish the install. I took it a step further and used muffler sealer (permatex 80335) to seal the joint. If you dont have both bolts and their springs (like me), you can buy the replacements. I used Dorman 675-221 and they worked great. This catalytic converter comes with just the catalytic converter and a coupler. The coupler is perfectly sized to slide over the catalytic pipe and your remaining resonator pipe. You will need a long extension to get the screws through the cat into the engine. I used a 10" and a 4". Parts needed: This catalytic converter Bolts with springs (if you could not recover them). Dorman 675-221 Oxygen sensor (I suggest denso) Two 1 3/4 exhaust clamps (autozone Surebilt 17122) Permatex muffler sealer 80335 Install instructions (according to how I did it): Before install, consider engraving your license plate onto the cats and painting the cats red to irritate future thieves. 1. Clean up the resonator pipe and smooth it out so that the coupler can fit on the resonator. I used a dremel cutting wheel to cut off the jagged pieces and then the sanding attachment to smooth it out. 2. Rough up the surfaces of the coupler and pipes where the muffler sealer will be so it sticks well. I used a dremel sanding attachment. 2. Put the coupler on the catalytic pipe and hold it while you push the cat against the engine exhaust. 3. With the cat pipe and the resonator pipe touching, slide the coupler over the mounting area to test fit. 4. The pressure from the engine and the exhaust should now temporarily hold the cat in place. 5. Try to thread the bolts through the catalytic converter into the engine mount. This is the hardest step. The springs will fight you the entire time you try to get the threads to grab. I used an electric drill/driver to spin while I provided gentle, but steady force and it worked well. Dont screw it all the way in yet. 6. Slide the coupler of the joint (onto the cat pipe) and slather the muffler sealer all over the surface where the couple will go. 7. Slide the coupler back over the joint between the cat and resonator. 8. Mount the two exhaust clamps (one over the cat side of the join, and the other over the resonator side). 9. Tighten the cat bolts to 32 ft/lbs of torque. 10. Drive the prius on the highway for at least 30 min to set the muffler sealer.

2008 Prius..Check Engine Light Out!!!
2008 Prius that I bought used ..it had an aftermarket converter and a theft shield which tells me the original one was stolen and she replaced with aftermarket converter and anti theft shield....kept getting the dreaded failed converter code and an on and off again check engine light... with the help of the reviews here bought the Walker.. Check Engine light remains off. Job Pitfalls to look out for....comes with a coupler to join exhaust pipes..it fit good but exhaust leaks can be very pesky..mine leaked a little bit.. I've got mig and tig welders in my shop to make to make short work of the coupler weld job.. PLEASE you don't want to arc weld on the Prius due to sensitive electronic components and computers. SOOO you have to install and dry fit then drop the exhaust system again to weld on the exhaust system..Hope this helps at least one person..

Northern Virginia emissions
Works great in my Northern Virginia town that requires the engine light stay off because there is not enough oxygen pasted the Catalytic converter. It comes with a short coupler that I was able to match with a longer coupler. Very pleased with this purchase.

Excellent! Gen 2 Prius (2004-2009) List of ALL Exhaust Parts Needed
This catalytic converter fits my Gen 2 Prius (2004-2009) perfectly! I recommend that you buy all the listed parts in the photo I included from Amazon (except Walker gasket Part # 31379 - see below), including the new resonator pipe and muffler even if you think just your catalytic converter is bad. For reference, the factory exhaust is two pieces. The first is a long pipe that includes the catalytic converter and a resonator that attaches to the exhaust manifold in the front and the muffler in the back. Otherwise, you'll be attempting to cut and clamp/weld onto this long pipe. You can probably reuse the existing rubber hangers, but new ones are cheap and easily replaceable while you have everything off. The muffler is also relatively cheap and mine had a small rust hole in the pipe. Here are some tips: * DON'T BUY the Walker Gasket (Part #31379) used to connect the exhaust manifold to the front of the catalytic converter. It WILL NOT work. I've spoken to Walker about it and others have commented similarly. It's more expensive (~$50), but YOU NEED THE TOYOTA OEM one (Part #17451-21060). *The Walker Bolt Kits (Part #36454) don't come with nuts you might need. *These parts are mainly aluminized carbon steel - not stainless like the factory system. This means that they were dipped in an aluminized coating for protection from rust. Don't scrape the stickers off with a sharp tool (leave them on) unless you want a spot that will rust through quickly. *This is an easy do-it-yourself job if you have access to a lift. If not, don't pay more than $150-$200 for professional installation of the full exhaust. It's a super-simple job and all the parts fit perfectly.

Works good, but needs other parts and small modification
As far as the converters working 5 stars, just be aware that the gasket and bolts that come with this DO NOT fit, also the part I received was about 3 inches too long after the second cat, so the direct fit end had to be cut off and a piece of 1 3/4" Inside Diameter pipe was needed to connect the new part to my existing exhaust. I'm grateful to the other reviewers for the advice to get the OEM Toyota gasket even though it cost around $40 it is necessary for this job. As far as the bolts go I took the advice of a youtube video and got some 10mm bolts with 1.25 thread that are 70mm in length and had no problems with them working. Otherwise this catalytic converter saved me A LOT of $$$ and works just fine. Update as of 3/17/2022 this Cat is still working well for me.
