Recommend the Arlo hub!
Bought the hub with the cameras after reading the reviews. With the dual band 2.4-5 ghz makes it so easy to connect with the internet and also with setting up the cameras! Signal strength is excellent and so far no problems!! Definitely a plus to add to the Arlo cameras!

Need to sink cameras and base together to insure the new cameras are working with the new base
New bas station is required for new cameras. It is well spent for new cameras and a new base station

Only works with subscription to Arlo
We bought this "Arlo SmartHub VMB4540" device to manage video feed from several Arlo Essential 2K cameras placed in the back yard to monitor stray cats. But, due to an Inaccurate Product Description on Amazon, the SmartHub does NOT work as expected and we returned it.Specifically, it did not detect our Arlo cameras. It did not capture or transmit live images. It did not store recordings locally. Occasionally, a single frame would freeze on our PC for no particular reason, just a picture of our backyard with no stray cats. It did not connect to our Arlo cameras by Wifi nor by any other way, even when cameras were only 3-6 feet away from the hub.Another failure of this device is the pathetic 2.5" bifold "manual" in the box. All it says is to connect the power adapter and Ethernet cable to your wifi, then "Download the Arlo app and follow the setup instructions for an Arlo SmartHub." So even the instructions are worthless. (See a picture of the included bifold instructions, below.) In other words, you must search the Internet yourself to find pertinent info for the device. But none of it works, so its still worthless. Also, in case you missed it, connecting the SmartHub to the cameras requires <3-6 feet distance between the SmartHub and the cameras to be connected. But this detail isn't even mentioned in the pathetic bifold that comes with the SmartHub. I only found that out online. But as I said, it's all worthless.Everything about the product description is inaccurate. I think the SmartHub is a "loss leader" for Arlo. The cameras came with a month of free support, including AI detection of animals, short recordings of animal movements that triggered recordings, audible alerts and so on. But once the free camera support trial ends, the cameras only transmit live feed, and this SmartHub is--you guessed it--worthless. You have to subscribe to Arlo.Bottom line: This Arlo product only seems to work with a subscription to Arlo. This is not mentioned in the product description. And it obviates the whole rationale for buying the so-called SmartHub, which is to avoid having to purchase a subscription to Arlo. So lucky you, you get to spend $100 on a SmartHub AND subscribe to Arlo. By itself, this device does nothing. It is completely useless. It is not Smart at all. It is quite Stupid. But you would be Smart to avoid it.

Offline is a concern
I bought two Arlo Pro SmartHubs, one purchased in February 2025 and another in July 2025 to cover two separate areas. One performs well, never miss a camera trigger; but the other one frequently goes offline and needs to be restarted. I don’t think it is WiFi related because all connections are Ethernet, no WiFi outage incidents. It could be that the one works well is directly plugged into the router, while the offline one is plugged into a Netgear Gigabit Switch that’s plugged into the router; whether this is an issue is unknown. I am going to upgraded the Ethernet wire to see if it will make a difference. I found the camera images have a few seconds of delay popping up into the app, but it’s only a timing difference, not a missed catching the moment issue. Overall, the cameras are amazing, especially the older versions such as Arlo and Arlo Pro versions; I run into problems of loud noises and over exposures with the essential cameras.

Arlo hub worked perfectly
I’ve been a loyal Arlo user for years. After a long home remodel, I managed to misplace my original hub, leaving my cameras offline for three years. I finally ordered this replacement, and I’m happy to report that everything is back up and running perfectly. I did have to replace the camera batteries after they sat in storage for so long, but that was to be expected. I still LOVE this system!

Upgrading the Smart Hub
I wanted to upgrade our old Smart Hub and I connected this new one while living the old one online. I needed to upgrade because one of the cameras got disconnected to the old hub and wouldn't reconnect and I tried installing new batteries and it still wouldn't work. Then once I connected our cameras to this new Smart Hub, it was easy and it recognized the cameras instantly. Now the old smarthub is disconnected. The cameras are working fine now!

Must have a subscription for remote viewing on post recording
My biggest complaint is the subscription service. Even with the SmartHub and a USB drive for local storage, I cannot review recorded footage when I’m away from home. To access recordings stored on the USB drive, I have to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. When I’m away, I can only view the live camera feed. For the price of the subscription, I expected more value. It feels expensive for what is actually provided, especially since local recordings aren’t easily accessible remotely.

Offline access needed?
- To properly use the offline access, setup a Home VPN tunnel to access remotely from your home.- This might require a higher-end router like Asus to setup, but establishing a WireGuard VPN connection makes it possible to remotely pull footage from this device- Remember, this is to avoid paying for cloud storage, so you need some kind of remote capabilities then you need a VPN into your home.- To setup and pair, you press both buttons on camera and dock. This has its own separated wireless connection for pulling dedicated footage from Arlo cameras.

Does a great job
I got this so that I could connect my Arlo doorbell to it and watch the recorded videos from my phone as the base station that came with my Arlo cameras didn't allow for that without a subscription. This did the trick and has allowed me to playback the camera footage from my phone. There is a delay when watching live footage but not enough for concern in my opinion. I recommend this for those that want to review the video from their external hard drive without having to disconnect it from the base.

No sé cómo corregirlo.
