I increased my intake from 4,000 to 6,000 IU about 5-1/2 months ago after finding a rule of thumb that the body needs 2,000 IU per 50 pounds of body weight. I weigh 170. Per last week's blood work my vitamin D serum level (25-hydroxy) is 97.7 mg/dl which is at the high end of the normal range. I take it with meals along with 300 mcg daily of vitamin K2 to keep calcium in teeth and bones where it belongs. This product is like sunshine in a bottle. Small, easily swallowed, no aftertaste, and big results for not much money.

Pharmacist here. Supplements like this aren't regulated by the FDA, but by DSHEA. So if you're not buying brands that opt for independent third party testing then the lower price you're paying may be explains by them using just less of the actual ingredient than the label says. Kirkland typically uses USP which is the peak of respectability of lab verification. The only other reliable brand I buy (without researching them) are ones like Nature Made, or certain niche manufacturers for less common products. Surprisingly many post-hoc studies have found that even national store brands have had zero of the labeled active ingredient in their products on store shelves. But obviously pharmacists are motivated to not disseminate this info as it's made by essentially their employer. In conclusion, the law is crud but there are workarounds for the motivated consumer. Tirade over.

I was hesitant of purchasing the large quantity, considering I take only one a day. There's not much to say.... a pill is a pill. I did not have any issues with the pills staying fresh or dissolving or sticking together over time. They have maintained and improved my Vitamin D levels and made my physician very happy. I purchased a second bottle and just received them. Great value. I'll continue to order from this Amazon vendor
