The Murders in the Rue Morgue & Other Tales

I love Poe. All of his stories and poems. This one is a tale with a character who, like Sherlock Holmes, solves the murders through observation and deduction. As you read, it is fun to follow his line of thought to see if you can deduce whodunit before his revelation. It is definitely not who you expect!

Was not worth it. Printed copy of a book pasted into this one. Couldn’t even read it. Lines ran off the page and pages were faded

Three great stories, but quite a lot of typos - very often where a French word with an accent had been translated, and the translation had caused a query which the proof reader should have picked up. So, for example, 'Barriere Du Roule' appears as 'Barri?ere'. Not once but a dozen times, at least.Not a show stopper, but really irritating. Lazy proof reading.

Readers will be engulfed in ever so mysterious and gothic nature of the writing style adapted by Edgar Allan Poe. I have no complaints against the book or its contents. But I do want to complain about the quality with which I received it. The book appears old and the pages are yellowed in places and edges are not sharp and I felt as if I recey a second hand book. I never received any book in this condition ever. This is my first time receiving one in such a condition.

Edgar Allan poe was one of the greatest writers of all time. Its sad how he was appreciated posthumous.The book says Murders in the rue morgue and other tales.To be honest , i came for the rue morgue and stayed for other tales.I believe they deserve a mention.William Wilson,The cask of amontillado,The fall of the house of Usher.Tell-tale heart,andSo on.His writing style involves using non-colloqual words that you wouldn't have found in your repertoire.At some point you'll realise how repetitive his works are because they are based on the same theme.Which is not a big deal as all authors' work seem repetitive if you read it all at once.But this is the repetition you want to get used to.The morbid vibe he casts upon writers is unparalleled.He's gonna summon your interest with his well polished lexicon.Every sentence is a product of dark rumination.Thanks for reading.

Di questo libro avevo letto una versione semplificata che mi sta aiutando molto nella lettura di questa edizione "normale" dei racconti di POE, naturalmente ricchissimi di vocaboli sconosciuti oltre che di strutture grammaticali più complesse.Il libro ordinato il pomeriggio è arrivato all'ora di pranzo del giorno dopo....ottimo.Se il libro fosse integrato anche con un CD audiolibro sarebbe un perfetto esercizio di ascolto della pronuncia....

A must have for all Poe fans, however, the copy I got had a few defects. The design of the cover is very lovely but I was a bit disappointed with my copy of this book. It has some strange read markings on the outside and three pages are cut wrongly. I don't think it's fair to pay the full price for a copy that is not free from defects. This is why I'm only giving it three stars.
