I need to tell you I did not read the instructions. Before you begin, remove the plastic cover! This will allow them to shine!

First I was horrified, all was so dull, no shine at all, until I realized that there is a thin paper on each side, to protect it during packing, shipping and while chosing where to sew them. VERY SHINY, I am very happy with it.
