AirNav Radar ADS-B 1090 MHz XBoost Antenna with SMA Connector

I was only seeing aircraft up to about 100 miles with the standard whip, After mounting this antenna at (two storey house gutter height) my range has improved to 237 Miles. I need to now move the antenna, to Top of mast (50 ft I should treble the distance as the antenna will be above the surrounding buildings.

The AirNav ADSB 1090 antenna indoors will receive data approx 40 miles distance, the higher you have it outside will increase the distance you'll be able to receive. This antenna will hardly be noticed when up on a chimney or on a gable end. Use good quality coax to reduce the loss of signal strength. Try to place the antenna where it's got no trees or buildings blocking it's reception.

I bought this to replace my standard ariel I have from a standard Nooelec RTL-SDR v5 Bundle as I was getting 150nm from the bundle and seeing this I thought I would get a better range. When it arrived there were some marks on the label but that was not the issue after installing this my range dropped to 40nm less than a 3rd from what i had previously and this ariel cost twice as much as the whole bundle did, return process started.

The antenna came used, scratched, and beaten up. Worth noting that its a female connector so you need a male to male adapter

My home made 1/4 wave antenna with no appreciable gain picks up 4 times further away than this sntenna. Both mounted next to each othet.

Ich betreibe seit ca. 5 Jahren einen ADS-B-Empfänger für FR24. Bisher hatte ich eine (verkürzte) 866 MHz-Lambda/4-Antenne am Schornstein befestigt. Diese Antennen gibt es als Empfangsantennen für drahtlose Mikrofone. Kürzt man alle Elemente auf 6,8 cm, hat meine perfekte ADS-B-Antenne für 1090 MHz mit seh rguten Ergebnisse und einer Rundstrahlcharaketristik. Leider hat es diese Antenne nun erwischt. Sie ist schlichtweg abgesoffen. Die o.a. Antenne gibt es immer noch, aber zu völlig horrenden Preisen. Mit etwas Geschick und 4 kleinen Edelstahlstäben kann man das gut selbst bauen. Das wird mein Winterprojekt :-) Aber erst mal musste eine neue Antenne her ... da ich noch einen Gutschein hatte, habe ich mich für die AirNav RadarBox ADS-B 1090 MHz XBoost Antenne entschieden. Das Ding ist echt klein und wirkt sehr billig ... aber ... sie funktioniert absolut tadellos!! Ich habe damit sogar leicht bessere Eregbnisse als mit der alten Antenne. Hatte ich vorher durchschnittliche(!) Entfernungen von 230 km sind es nun fast 270 km. Insofern gibt's ein klares Plus für diese kleine, feine Antenne. Aber ... die Verarbeitung wirkt extrem billig auf unterstem China-Level. Ich weiß nicht wie die Antenne mehrere Jahre "da draußen" überstehen soll?! Ich habe da ernsthafte Zweifel. Bedenkt man, dass da ein kleiner Dipol verbaut wurde, mit etwas Plastik drumherum und eine ganz einfache SMA-Buchse ist der Preis von 50,-€ schon heftig. Der Materialwert dürfte bei 3,-€ liegen. Wer die Antenne etwas geschützter aufstellen kann, hat sicher mehr davon! Noch ein wichtiger Hinweis: Für solche Antennen im GHz-Bereich nimmt man unter gar keinen Umständen billiges RG174-Kabel ... sondern guter H155-Kabel mit anständigen Steckern! Sonst verhunzt man sich durch mieses Kabel und Stecker das Empfangsergebnis gewaltig. Von mir gibt's eine Kaufempfehlung für die Antenne! Immerhin funktioniert die Antenne wie sie soll ... der Preis ist jedoch happig und die Verarbeitung eindeutig verbesserunsgwürdig.
