Excellent history for campaign not addressed in detail
Excellent book for reference and review of this relatively uncovered campaign which directly affected the German invasion of Russia June 1941. Recommended.

The German Blitzkrieg into the Balkans...
With the Italian Army stalled in the Balkans in late 1940, the Germans intervened in the conflict. German air and ground elements struck hard and fast into Yugoslavia and Greece, overwhelming the defenders, included a British-led expeditionary force. The campaign has remained controversial for its supposed effects on Operation Barbarossa, the German invasion of the Soviet Union, which followed the Balkans intervention.Author Pier Paolo Battistelli does a remarkable job of making sense of a confused and wide-ranging campaign, highlighting a spirited and fast-moving offensive by German forces but also the stubborn defense offered by the Greek Army. The text is nicely supported by lots of period photographs and modern illustrations and battle diagrams. His concluding analysis on the British intervention and the effects of the Balkan campaign on Barbarossa are quite interesting. Well recommended to students of the conflict.

Ripropongo quanto già scritto in altre occasioni
