Duck MAX Strength Heavy Duty Insulating Film for Patio Door/Extra Large Window, 84-Inch x 120-Inch, Indoor, 284352

I purchased this product to solve a unique problem. One of my windows is exposed with no overhang. During very heavy rains it collects water in the track it slides on faster than it can drain. I have been unable to find anyone to make a custom storm window. An awning would help, but that would destroy the architectural look of my home, unless I spend big bucks having a custom one built.I experimented by wrapping the screen in plastic from a craft store and that helped to reduce the flow so I could be sure that was indeed the problem. The plastic tore after a while and I had to put a trash bag over the screen.After searching for plastic film/sheets large enough locally I had the idea to try shrinkwrap.I cleaned the screen very thoroughly, wiping the frame with alcohol before applying the tape. The shrink film went on very easily and shrank up very tight with just a hair dryer. It is completely invisible from both the inside and outside. I installed the screen backwards in the window, so the screen is on the outside, the film is on the inside (but still exposed to elements). I am sure UV will get to it and it will not last long but I have enough plastic in the kit to do the window 4 times, and enough tape for at least one more. I think the one thing I would recommend is to get a slim pair of scissors if you were doing this on the inside, so you can trim very close. I ended up using a letter opener - one of those types that people hand out like business cards.I believe the purchase of a new window is in my future - one that does not open at all - but this is a great solution for the time being and significantly more attractive than the hefty bag I had on there before!It has been up for several weeks and so far is doing fine in the Georgia heat.

We we have a shower with a window in it and every single time we would finish showering. We’d have to dry the window framing to prevent any mold or water damage. It got old after a while sometimes you just don’t feel like doing it every single day and this was a solution that we considered and we are 1000% happy with this product. It saves us time and an added bonus keeps out The cold and hot outside air very well now we have been using this product for well over a month and never have to worry about drying anything because the plastic covers it. Highly recommend watching a YouTube video before installing it on person’s video was excellent that showed a similar product And the trick is to start from the top and work your way down. Let gravity be your friend. Also, make sure to get the plastic as tight as possible on the double sided tape first don’t rely on using the hairdryer to solve all your problems. The hairdryer does work great but if you can get this on the double sided tape Tight enough when you add the hairdryer to it, you won’t even see the plastic because it will be so tight and professional looking. It’s amazing when you’re done and I was shocked that basically anything from more than 5 feet away you can’t even see the plastic around the window. I’ll mention that our window frames are white and this double-sided tape was white too which helps make it look even better. It does work excellent as I said earlier to keep hot air out in the summer and cool air out in the winter it’s definitely water resistant, and when you go to use the hairdryer start from the outside edges and work your way to the center slowly at the end, work all around the four corners in a square pattern and eventually when you come into the middle, you have a beautiful seal. This product is excellent and I highly recommend it if you’re looking to save energy or you have a window in your shower like we did to keep out the water and damnedest from hitting the framing.

This was pretty easy to install. We had a bit of trial and error, the first one we didn't leave enough extra so it barely fit and needed to be heated a lot to get rid of the wrinkles. Once installed, they work great keeping out extra air, and warm air in. We have a house build in 1928 so you can imagine the energy lost, even with upgrades to windows and such.

This Duck MAX Strength Heavy Duty Insulating Film makes a superb ultralight groundsheet. The 10' x 7' size is about perfect for our family camping needs (2 parents, plus 3 kids under age 8) and helps to keep debris and dirt off of our sleeping pads, bags, and clothing. While it takes a little care to avoid punctures by clearing away sharp rocks and protruding sticks before you lay it down, it is more durable than one would think (much, MUCH more durable than the flimsy Saran Wrap like material people tend to think it will be if they haven't tried polycryo before) and also, it is extremely easy to patch with packing tape if a puncture does occur. Compared with the typical commercial grade Tyvek, it is about half the weight and also quite a bit more packable/compressible. Also, compared with the polycryo that many ultralight backpackers use (which is usually 0.75 mil or sometimes even 0.5 mil thick), this Duck MAX Strength film is twice as thick, at 1.5 mil. If I were backpacking alone, I might choose a thinner film, but with kids, I like the added durability that this double-thickness film provides. And the price is great--much cheaper than Tyvek in the equivalent size and also cheaper than what some ultralight backpacking stores charge for their "special"/re-branded versions of polycryo. This is just as good as any of them, and given its double thickness, more durable than most.

We have a rental house built in 1905. The windows are horrible. Drafts everywhere and the glass and frames didn’t settle the same way the rest of the house did. We love the house, we just knew that come winter these windows would kill us on heating costs. There were two of us working on the windows. The tape went down very easy, and separated from the film without ripping. The plastic is a good quality. We left about an inch to an inch and a half extra on all sides. The instal video was super handy by the way. Lots of good tips in it. We made sure to keep it taut, and worked from the top down. When we finished hanging the plastic and used the hair dryer on it, the plastic became very clear and smooth. It’s not 100% translucent, but just looks like another piece of glass over the window. We’ve already noticed a change in how particular rooms are holding heat better. I’m so happy we went with Duck over 3M. All of the woes we read about dealing with their product we didn’t deal with using Duck Brand. We are thoroughly impressed.

Last year I purchased 3M / Frost King products at Lowe's. The tape struggled to adhere around windows. Within a month, the plastic was separating from the tap. I just installed this on the windows. Immediately I can tell the tape is much better quality. It sticks to the wood, but I could also adjust the plastic prior to using a hair dryer. The plastic straightened fantastically under the heat of the hair dryer. What took me hours last year was significantly reduced this year. Will update if the plastic does not hold up for the season. Will definitely use Duck brand again.

Put this on the large (3' x 4') center pane of a bay window. Taped at the top and hung plastic from the top then worked in tape on the sides and bottom, stripped off the outer tape liner, and immediately the vinyl began sticking to the tape -- all twisted and folded over itself. I trimmed off the excess and shrunk it in as much as seemed safe to do but it's still a wadded-up mess along the edgesI'll keep the blind down over it but it shows at the edges of the blind where the wadding effect is worst. It also tore a hole when I shrunk it. I covered the hole by putting tape around it and sticking a scrap of vinyl over top -- looks awful but the blind will at least hide thatI think it'll help keep heat in and the tape liner was easy to peel. The problems I had might be because I'm clumsy, but next winter I'll just tape bubble wrap to the glass

I was always cold in my room. I swear I could feel cold air falling on me. I installed this plastic and it was life changing. No more space heater. I can see the reason people have sworn by plastic window film forever!

Easy to use

Easy to install, looks good but would prefer high transparency in the film.

I have 2 double layer windows above single layer windows in my bedroom. The insulation is not very ideal and when I roll my curtains away the temperature went down which is kind of annoying since my apartment heater only offer 20 celsius or 25 celsius (too low or too high) Just installed, it seems to be solid for now and I need some time to evaluate if the tape is solid facing a condensation environment and if it keeps warm which will show up on the hydro bill. I will update this review later.---------------------------------------------------Update----------------------------------------------------------It's Feb 2nd now, it's been a while since I installed the film window. I upload a video and a photo as the update. As you can see the tape no longer stick because of the condensation, but when you flip the window it still holds, and as you can see it can still insulate which lead the outside window to frost (it never frost before I install the film window, the window only frost when both sides are cold). And as long as you don't pull, even with small strength, the film window will hold. I tried to retape the window but I found it is ok to just let it be there. It is a great product if your room is not that warm or you keep the curtain aside, which can keep your window from condensation from inside.But, finally, I solve my draft problem by stuffing the leak between the carpet and the wall. I tried to caulk and insulate the window but they are not the main problem, it will be a good idea to buy a temperature detector to find where is the leak.

Acabo de instalar éste plástico/celofán en varias de mis ventanas. La primera instalación me costó trabajo pero la segunda y tercera quedaron perfectas. El grosor del plástico es bueno, la cinta doble cara excelente.Aísla las corrientes bastabte bien y no se nota que está instalado.

Film is heavier than what I have used in the past. So, it's easier to handle and better to insulate. I gave 4s because the windows are huge so it took two of us to install and also, the windows are so old, it would be hard to insulate them using any method. Overall though, it makes quite a difference in the room.
