That means it won't crush (Don't over-torque it! You'll rip the threads out of the oil pan), and it won't seal the gap, and the oil will slowly leak out of your engine.It won't run out of your engine fast enough to leave a spray on the windshields of following traffic, and it won't run out fast enough to leave your engine suddenly with insufficient oil pressure, overheated bearings, and very expensive seizure. No, it won't be so dramatic: it will leak only a few drops while it's parked.But the whole purpose of oil is to flow everywhere it can reach. Those few drops will expand on your garage floor to a giant puddle. That spread will make it harder to diagnose where the puddle started. The best thing about these WIX filters is you can make a use decision based on test data! WIX backs up their claim for performance by publishing test data on retention based on ISO filtration standard tests. The results appear to be very good. I can't compare as they are the only ones I have found and I have looked at all the major manufacturers information. I am not an expert on engine internal clearances, but based on what I know, the size retention and efficiency appears to be very good. These may or may not be the best filters available, but you have no way of really knowing without the test data which all the manufacturers actually have, but don't want to publish for marketing reasons. O-ring was included. The washer it comes with is not the classic copper crush washer that comes with the OEM filter kit that I have previously used. It looks more like a regular soft grade flat washer. The filter looks like a regular pleated style versus the interesting zig-zag pattern of the OEM style. You get what you pay for; I’ll spend more next time to get the OEM version with all the right parts.

Even though the picture doesn't show it, this item comes with a new washer for the drain plug, and also a new rubber O-ring. Buy with confidence.
