Fried the switch but it was probably my fault
Switch quality: They served their purpose successfully. I fried a couple by supplying too much amperage but was able to arrange a couple in parallel and make it work. The magnet is very sensitive and maybe a little weak. I glued the magnet to a croc jibit for the project I was doing and it was almost too heavy to use the switch.

Item works, came on time, inexpensive
Item came on time, safe company to do business with. The reeds have always worked in the past. The protective box does take a little space - think about that for very tight fits. Inexpensive enough just to try if necessary.

Not bad for the price
I'm using these for a model railroad to control switches automatically. I'm only rating 4 stars because a couple were always closed.

Black plastic reed switches were a terrible choice for my project
The small, black, plastic-cased reed switches are NOT a good choice for an actual project. Maybe they would be good for breadboard tinkering or fun electronics experiments to show to kids. But they are definitely not trustworthy enough to, for example, serve a crucial role inside the enclosure of a DIY sensor assembly. I paid just under $1 each for a 10-pack. Two of these supposedly Normally Open switches were permanently closed from the time I took them out of the package. But even the ones that “worked” cost me hours of headaches with my ESP32-based sensor project. After two hellish evenings of poring over my code and testing the voltage and resistance of every component in my project, I finally realized the absurd issue that had been plaguing me. I had put a 90° bend in each of the leads, and both of the bends were roughly 10mm away from the plastic case. Then I slid the switch into its little slot that I’d designed for it in my 3D-printed enclosure and applied a dab of hot glue to hold it in place. During my troubleshooting, there was no continuity across the switch, which was a good thing. But what I finally realized is that when I was putting the lid on the enclosure, the action of a couple of tiny wires pressing ever so gently downward on the end of one of the leads was causing the internal reed on that side to rotate and make contact with the other reed, closing the circuit. And when I would remove the lid to troubleshoot, it went back to behaving as expected. I had already changed out the switch twice just to be sure, and I was on my 3rd one, and they had all been doing this same thing the entire time. After some testing I learned that it takes almost no pressure at all on the leads to close the switch, and even putting a slight bend in one of the leads is enough to permanently close the internal reeds together, even while holding the base of the lead steady. Nowhere did I see anything about how insanely fragile these are. Rather, the description boasts about how much stronger and more durable these are than the glass version. Even if I ever do find a use case for these in which no bending is required, I will probably not use them after seeing how temperamental and delicate they are. I would have saved some money and a whole lot of time if I had just bought more expensive and sturdy reed switches to begin with. Now, when I started an Amazon return, it said it was going to give me an advance refund but that some of that money might be clawed back if any parts are missing or used. And since I had to use them to discover how terrible they are, I guess I’ll just let them collect dust in my parts bin until some kid comes along who wants to see a neat electronics experiment.

Used on my car's proximity key
Nifty little devices, but you must take extreme care when bending or cutting the wires. The side that reacts the best to magnetism seems to be the side with the two faint black circles. I used them in some proximity keys for a car, and these keys did not have an "off" feature (kinda silly). The key is normally off now, unless my magnetic ring is nearby. Highly recommend doubling / tripling these things up for redundancy and using stronger magnets with them.
