O**!
Great bayonet/knife
Very beefy knife and very sharp. Well made and good quality. There is lubrication on the blade as shipped and when its removed some black residue was on the rag but did not change the appearance of the knife (as noted by other review--not significant in my opinion)

Excellent product.
I received the order in perfect condition. This is my third Ontario product and I really respect the quality in their products. I use my knife as a tool when I go outdoors. Digging, chopping even cutting when necesary with my wet stone next to me cause of course the blade is basically dull. It's meant to be a bayonet and not a sharp meat cutting knife. For the purpose of a bayonet is as good I would say as the M7 system although a lot of USMC personal prefer the later one. I served in another country and we had bayonets systems that were crap. The station i served was up in the mountains with jungle like vegetation and for those times I would have loved to have this system attached to my FAL. Currently I use it on my Colt AR 10 16' barrel and it fits as it should. I have dropped it from a clif by accident while digging, have used it as a hammer, have used it while scuba diving, I even used it to cauterize a wound when I couldn't do anything else. It's well balanced when you hold it in hand, there are much better tactical or combat knives but this will do the job. I did read other comments and I do respect everybodys opinion but I would defenitely purchase this product again cause it works for what is meant to do.

Nice
One of the cooler knives I owned, traded it for a computer GPU. Definitely buying again

Make the green grass grow!
my favorite part of basic training was the bayonet course where you learn what makes the green grass grow! In modern combat the bayonet is more or less obsolete but that's not why I bought one in 2022. This is a solid must piece of survival gear should the world take a dump. Don't use it as a bushcraft or heavy field knife. if you have to i wouldn't split heavy logs with it it's not full tang. It's only true purpose is to serve what a bayonet is for which i can't post on here. In that context this this is BAD ASS!. Soild hefty blade that fits on rifle length AR platform with the bayonet lug. If you have a carbine length AR the bayonet doesn't fit correctly but don't get sad you need a bayonet lug adapter you can google that and find one you like there are multiple vendors.

Well build heavy duty looks mean on a 590a1
Nice heavyweight solid build little rough around the edges not the knife edge it's sharp but it's not a show knife it's a work knife seems like if you use it properly it'll last or save your life oiled well no rust fits tight on my 590a1 very secure

Great bayonet, marginal knife
As a bayonet, this is excellent. Fits on my midlength handguard 16" AR w/ A2 birdcage perfectly with no rattle. As a knife, this item is just OK. Mine came well packaged and in new condition, but not particularly sharp. However, this isn't a cutting knife is it? It is a stabbing knife for battle. My point is this: If you are looking for a good "knife", look elsewhere - like the ontario Black Bird SK5, which is a fantastic full tang knife for this same price. Or if you want a knife which is supremely sharp, check out Spyderco. My unofficial test went like this: Carpet rolled up to around 6 layers thick, w/padding also. This knife barely cut through 1 layer. My spyderco 2" went all way to the handle with ease, and would have kept cutting if there had been more blade. This is a bayonet, and nothing more.

Nice Bayonet and Good $$$
I had been looking for this bayonet for over 8 months and had been in contact with the manufacturer awaiting for them to get it in stock, but it was looking like a dead-end. I came across this bayonet on Amazon, the exact same bayonet from Ontario Knife Company, and was less expensive than buying direct from the manufacturer (OKC). In 3 days I had the bayonet in my hands and I am not disappointed. I was in the US Army for 22 years and this bayonet looks as good or better quality as those issued in the military. It will fit most standard barreled AR15's and unless something strange happens, I think this bayonet will stand up to most rigors you'd put it through.

Best utility knife ever!
It brings back fond memories of my time in the field in the military, exactly the same issue blade I carried and used in service. Three things are tough! They can't take a beating and can always be sharpened. We rarely used them as bayonets in the field, more like a multipurpose tool and this is the real deal

Had purchased the OKC 10 Tanto and the M7 but was still reading up on the M9. So much hype that I couldn't resist and I'm glad I didn't! The scabbard is superb. The blade is ever bit menacing as urban legend would have it be. For some reason this one came VERY sharp straight out of the box (yup I did the paper test). Extremely pleased! Forget about apocalypse, this is your all out rampage zombie annihilation weapon response system. It's a fence cutter, a metal saw, a hammer and yes of course, a great bayonet. In my case it's a very welcomed addition to the collection!

The knife is expensive but worth the money. The quality jumps to the eye as soon as you open the box. As a bayonet, it fits perfectly on the M4 carbine for those interested by this minor detail. More important to me is that it does more the job as a combat knife. The size of the blade is impressive compared to previous US Army model I've seen. It's more of a bowie than the slime bayonets, like that of the Garand or M1 carbines. Actually, Ontario seems to have innovated with their design by improving on the later models of the Kalashnikov bayonet (especially the European ones, like the East German or Yugoslav models). These are truly more multi-purpose combat knives than bayonets. Their backs are serrated and they have the wire cutter aperture that the Ontario M9 also incorporates in its design. However, the M9 blade is much more massive. Overall, I consider it an excellent buy.

Over all a decent product for the cost. The attention to detail could be improved. The fit on my 590 A1 is good and the wire cutter is okay. The unit did hold up to a fox hole test on one of our simulations. The wire cutter did show wear after a few cuts of 2 strand barbed wire. The handle material is nice to clean but the seams are sharp and need a trim and the blade finish is not as robust as I’d have hoped. Other than that it is solid and definitely performs. Edge retention and tip strength are decent.
