Review: Hard Ice Cream and no Freezer Bowl - I have been dying for an Ice Cream Maker that did not require a Freezer Bowl! Who wants to wait to have a freezer bowl freeze?? Well I searched around and came across this Royal Brew one.. it looked sleek and slim but has not had to many reviews! Well I decided to take a leap of faith and it has not disappointed me one bit! I followed the directions and was able to make delicious Chocolate Chip Ice Cream and Strawberry Sorbet! Pretty sure my boyfriend is waiting for me to get bored with it and take it off the counter! Little does he know... I have many many ice cream ideas ready and waiting for the future! Definitely have to say it’s a quality piece and I am loving every minute of it. As a novice, I am not entirely sure of the timing so I have just been turning it on, changing the mode and doing its process. Both times have been completely success! Review: Works Great, but Concerns - My Royal Brew Ice Cream Maker worked great and froze my mix promptly. I did, however, find the device to begin squeaking rather loudly as the mix started to get a bit viscous, and then it just got louder as the ice cream grew more thick. By the time it was done, it was annoyingly loud. I took video of the machine operating with sound and contacted Royal Brew about it. I did get a prompt response, and I was told this was normal when the mix began getting really thick, but my unit seemed to do it when the mix wasn't all that viscous and just grew worse. My biggest concern is it breaking prematurely and being up the creek without a paddle. The CSR offered to send me a new mixer blade and it too came promptly. It made no difference. The unit worked fine, and still does, and perhaps this is just normal operation. Its just an annoying sound to listen to for an hour while making ice cream and I didn't expect this from an ice cream maker. I'm not as enthusiastic to make ice cream now because I know I'll have to listen to this repetative squeak for forty-five to sixty minutes straight--growing ever louder as the ice cream hardens. As far as ease of use...the instruction manual isn't very clear. Its seems like one of those things translated by Google Translate from Chinese. I had a lot of questions as to what the indicators on the LCD screen meant, what should be illuminated and when they should be illuminated. In spite of the paucity of directions, I've made several batches and the machine seems to work well.

Still works and makes great ice cream
I was a bit skeptical at first with the reliability; however, after several batches of ice cream it is still working as designed. Don't overfill the mixer since the mix expands as the machine works the ice cream. Clean up is pretty easy. It would be nice if the paddle was made from metal and not plastic. I am very happy with this item.

Very nice.
Simple to use. It’s a little louder than I expected but not so loud that it’s annoying. Many reviews mentioned the inside paddle not reaching the edges. I found this not to be an issue. Mine don’t reach the edges but the ice cream came out great! Very rich and creamy. Setup and operation was extremely simple. I do recommend this.

Works really well
As someone who is allergic to most mainstream ice cream, I bought this to make my own. Worth every penny!!! It makes a smaller amount than some, I’m sure the price reflects that, but perfect ice cream every time!!

User’s manual is so unprofessionally written it’s scary
I haven’t used it yet and I’m already nervous that this ice cream maker is going to burn my house down. Almost every sentence in the user manual is filled with misspelled words and really unusual grammatical errors. Honestly I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s like it was written by an 8th grader and no one ever bothered to proof read it. I will update this review after I try it out tomorrow. Fingers crossed I won’t have to call the fire department. Update: I made my first batch of ice cream. It turned out great after sometime in the freezer. However, I used the hard ice cream setting and the center was liquid while the edges were frozen. The paddle eventually stopped turning because the perimeter was frozen solid. I’m going to try it again tomorrow with the soft serve setting and see what happens. Expect to leave your ice cream in the freezer for several hours before serving.

1st batch, so far so good!
First-time impression - nice design, outside of the 80s era display/interface. The descriptions scream American owned and suggest American made, but it's Chinese through and through, right down to the instruction booklet and warning decals. How does it work? First time, like a charm. Simple recipes, soft serve in about an hour. Started getting a bit noisy the last 5-10mins. Though the mixing bowl seems small, it makes quite a bit of ice cream! Everyone loved the first batch. What remains to be seen is longevity. The noise while mixing towards the end had me worried, like the belt might not hold up. I'll follow up if there's any change over the warranty period.

Works well.
Makes great ice cream! Tried the machines with the gel canisters..... all I got was a milk shake! This does a pretty darn good job.... just wish it would make a larger amount. I find it is best not to use more than 2 1/2 cups of liquid or it will overflow. You get about a pint of ice cream. A second canister would be nice. It takes about 40 minutes to get a pretty firm ice cream. With a second canister you could pop it in right away, (and not waste time scraping and cleaning the canister for the next batch) and get your second batch in about 20 minutes. It is a fairly quiet machine, you can hear when the ice cream is ready, the machine starts to sound strained. All in all, if you like making your own flavor combinations, this machine is a good one to purchase.
