Small amp for impossibly tight locations
For those of us who have moved on from back seat mounted amp monsters but still want a bit extra in the car without compromising space this is a good solution. The Mazda 5 is an incredibly well packaged car in terms of how it uses space but there is literally no room left for added electronics; the 3rd row literally eats up the trunk, the 2nd row seats have no space underneath them, and the front row seats barely have ~3 inches clearance that are shared with wiring and vent works. No space at all for traditional amps unless you want to consider the spare tire well, but ......heat/ventilation issues. This amp is the size of a slightly deflated 2 liter soda bottle in terms of how much overall space it needs to be installed. I managed to secure it with velcro under the front seat for a ventilate but out of sight install. Some larger cars could even fit it inside a glove box although I'm not sure if that would be a good place from a heat standpoint.Installation requires some 8 gauge butt connectors as the 12V and Ground wires are individually stranded instead of the more common screws. It looks like they combined two amps in the same case and hence you get two wires, oddly they even provide a connector that extends the wiring but would've been better used if it combined the two 12V and Ground leads into one 8 gauge wire. If you give me an extension, at least make it a useful one. I can't think of a scenario where an installer would prefer singular wiring. The speaker output wiring is also very close to the power wiring, no noise issues so far but an odd design choice. Tuning the amp is a bit of a guessing game as the gain screws have no markings nor scale. You can turn and turn them until they just stop, not a huge deal for volume gain as you're supposed to use your ears but much harder when you're trying to set high pass filter according to speaker specs. Better off setting high pass at the stereo if you can. Using this amp with stock speakers for now and had to turn the gain a good ways up and then back down again due to clipping. Not sure if the stock speakers just can't take it or if I'm close to maxing out gain; I can't tell from the amp end as there are no markings.

2 amps in 1, great quality.
Works nicely! Very solid amplifier and larger than I expected but fits perfectly under the seat in my 2015 Crosstrek. Haven't had any issues with it and it sounds great. Using it to power a DVC 8" sub that is mounted under the passenger seat, & 4 Kicker 6.5" components w/tweeters. It does it wonderfully, but also has the ability to power a 10 or 12" sub if I ever needed to. Build quality is nice, it's not some cheaply put-together amp. The adjustment knobs are sturdy, all wires and connections are nice-grade and orderly. Amp has some significant weight to it indicating that the internals are not mostly airspace but actual needed components. I've wasted plenty of money in my younger years with amps that claim X wattage only to realize they are just false claims and cheaply built. One of Clarions better products here for sure.

Everything worked fine until January 1st
Recieved this item on August 1st and installed it shortly after. Everything worked fine until January 1st, then the high channels started working intermittenly. By the end of the day only the subwoffer channel worked, the highs would sparaticly work at certain volumes, then not at all. Contacted Clarion who directed me to a local warranty service center that was out of buisness. The next closest center is almost two hours from me. The amp was mounted inside of my center console on the top of the console, no way water intrusion is possible. I have 3 gps/chartplotter/fish finder combos, a network splitter, a nmea 200 network & various other electronics mounted just above this amp no issues with them. I checked all my connections and found no issues. I wish I would have known this before buying a complete Clarion system consisting of 4 speakers, 1 sub, A cmd8 head unit, and this amp. I always thought of Clarion as being a quality product, unfortunatly this amp is making me rethink my opinion of the brand.

Sounds great, difficult to install
I added these two Clarion XR5520 amps to my boat and they sound great. Time will tell if they hold up or not. I have read mixed reveiws on there durability. I took a chance on these due to the price. I picked them up for $160 each. I have 1 amp pushing 4 - 6.5's and a 10" sub. The second amp is bridged pushing 2- 8's and Im going to add a second 10" sub. The reason for the 4 star review is because they were a pain in the rear to install. Spaghetti everywhere, see pictures. Also, there are only a few adjustments you can make to the amp. It has a built in 12 db slope, the crossovers are not marked, there are only HP, LP on 4 channels no Full, the sub channel doesn't have a phase switch and the potts are a little janky. If I were to do it all over again, I would of gone with a different amp due to the difficulty of installation, but thats on me for buying a pre wired amp.

Great little amp. A real powerhouse
I can't recommend this unit enough. Small, powerful and clean sounding. It fits in the trunk of my car without displacing anything, and definitely gets the job done. Very happy with it.

5 channel amp at a great price
I purchased the 5 Channel version of the amp and I had it professionally installed it sounds great I paired it with poke db572 speakers size 5 x 7 in an F-150 crew cab the head unit is a JVC kwv840bt this amp plays well and does not get hot I've had no real interference with radio stations as many people say class D amps cause I think I lost one station I have the amp placed in the back of the crew cab under the rear seat but I may change and place it behind the back of the rear seat because it does not get hot not much more I can say I am happy with my purchase and I would purchase again

Impressive power for stealth install in my Jeep Wrangler
I was able to mount this under my dash in my 2014 Jeep Wrangler. I used some metal brackets and screwed them into existing holes, and zip tied the rear to some metal reinforcement areas under the dash. I have this paired with infinity reference speakers, and a kicker 300w rms 8" sub in the stock sub location. I filled the stock plastic sub box with fatmat (cheaper dynamat) and it sounds great. This little thing powers my whole system and sounds tons better than the stock alpine system that it came with.

Ultracompacto, eficiente, buena potencia.

Defective right out of the box.
Amp is defective. Channels 1&2 work fine. 3&4 are dead until you touch the gain pot or crossover. I can say the fronts and sub have clean sound and decent amount of power. But overall not happy with the quality on amplifier.

Good but hissy and a year+ later, a channel blew
It's a decent little amp. I bought it because I wasn't sure of mounting location and space available. I didn't need a lot of power to clean up a factory radio (installed with AudioControl LC7i) and drive upgraded speakers + a 300w RMS sub. It provides all the power I need and though I'm still playing with tuning, I'm moderately happy. The one fault I find is a low volume hiss that can be heard when powered but when there's s no audio. Most don't notice it like I do. It's not input as I disconnected and it's not power or ground as I ran a test line outside the car and directly to the battery. Clarion Canada says it might be a bad solder on the pre-amp but also it may be a design flaw and that it was designed by Clarion USA, it wasn't designed by Clarion Canada. They were very clear on that. Dec update: I swapped out the amp for a new one of he same model. Hiss persists but it's not as loud as the previous. I will be replacing soon because the 18’ XV doesn’t power down the headunit and it drives me bonkers when there’s no audio signal, all I hear is the hiss. Reviewing my reviews, here’s a much later update (Nov 20) I lost a channel about 13 months after installing the Clarion. I keep in in a box just in case I figure out a use for it but I cannot recommend this amp.

Good Marine Amp
I found this amp to be easy to install once you figured out which wiring system your boat is using. Fortunately for me I had a clarion amp that was easy to translate wiring. Amp performs just like any other amp. Unfortunately Clarion has closed down but I am sure any other amp can do the job for me.
