Good stethoscope.
A good quality scope. I bought it to replace an old one of mine because i thought maybe a new one of high quality would have soft ear pieces, but it also has hard ear pieces. Other than my hoping it would be a little different, this is a good tool, like everything from OTC i have bought.

No better than those costing !/3 the price
Unless you specifically require the additional listening cone you're better off buying the cheapest model you can find because that's precisely what you're getting here. With the exception of the cone it's an exact duplicate of a cheap auto parts store stethoscope that I paid less than 10 bucks for. The plastic tubes are very stiff and cheap feeling and will probably generate as much sound as they'd transmit and the earpieces are hard and uncomfortable. I own several OTC tools and have been quite satisfied with them but this is a big disappointment. I'd expected a lot better for the money.

if your thinking of getting one,,, dont wait
I have been wanting one of these for a while. It arrived fast and was packed well. While it does not look too impressive,,, let me tell you.. I use it all the time and its excellent. I'm older and i can't tell where sounds come from and this is a great tool to have. Noisy alternator or is it the idler? This is the tool for you. possible bad injector? this does it. UPDATED REVIEW. I have it about a year and a half and while i still use it all the time and still think its great, the steel probe has a very fine thread or goes into plastic or something where when you take it out it seems that you have to thread it back in forever till it catches. Unless there is a better one at a reasonable price,,, i still recommend it.

Built for the home do it yourself type mechanic. Priced low and built pretty well.
Not sure I will ever use all of the different fittings. But it is a nicely built car engine diagnostic stethoscope for the do it yourself mechanic. Plus it can teach you what a good running engine should sound like. Listen to your engine from different positions and do that several times so you get to know what it sounds like when all is well.I love it for the price.

I purchased this chiefly because of the megaphone attachment, which I use far more often than the probe tip, which is only useful in a few situations.

Very useful tool
Was looking for a stethoscope for a noise on my truck during cold start up and could not find it whatsoever so i was interested in using one of these to figure it out (also to use for my job). I have a technician that has something like one of these and is absolute garbage. You can't hear nothing and it is SO uncomfortable to use in your ear. Me personally i wanted something that was a reparable brand and good quality because i do not want something that is nothing to break upon the first use and something that is going to last and do the job right the first time. The item actually arrived quicker than i expected which was great. After a week and many uses of using this, it is a very useful and solid built tool. I still have yet to figure out a use for the "horn" attachment because it is very hard to pinpoint a problem when the "horn" attachment is on. I really do not know what you could use it for, but anyone wanting to know that the 'horn" attachment is actually made of a molded rubber as i thought it was made out of plastic which i do not think it good. Rubber will absorb the noise which will muffle the symptom you are trying to diagnose and on the other hand plastic doesn't do that. It bounces off the plastic which would send noise into the tube and into the ear but that is my personal preference and also so i have been told BUT i could be wrong. Otherwise, this tool is great and couldn't ask for better. Just for the people wondering though that when you put it into your ear it isn't very comfortable to wear. My ears are quite sore from all the time using this but it's not that big of a deal to me. This tool has saved me many hours of diagnosing something which without out one could have taken many hours to diagnose.Probably no one is wondering but when i received this i put it's first use on my truck because i had a noise on cold start up that would last 10-30 seconds and it would stop (very common problem on General Motors Trucks.) I was just going to start replacing all the belt drive components but thought i would buy this first. Less than an hour into it and i have already found that my serpentine belt tensioner and my water plump is making the noise. Thank you is all i have to say, just a fabulous tool.

Very handy tool and good quality. The cone is great for narrowing in on sounds and recently helped identify an exhaust leak.

OTC has never let me down great quality, fast shipping. I feel this will last a long time. very comfortable to wear and sound is good. design allows you to get in many tight spots and also has I fairly long reach. all in all very pleasedOTC has very good quality products.Snap-on and Mac are nice, but when OTC does the same for a lot less. show everyone "HOW SMART ARE YOU!" lol wording is on purpose.lol
