The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When home-steading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection. See more

Great Boots
I'd had my eye on these boots for over a year and finally bit the bullet and invested in them after finding what I knew to be a great price, especially for Frye. They fit great (I wear a 10, which fits me perfectly in 90% of shoes) - plenty of room so that my toes don't push against the end (a huge pet peeve of mine, especially for boots) and room for thicker socks, but not so big that my feet slosh around inside when I walk. While they do run a hair big, personally I would not recommend going down a half size. I do have a fairly narrow foot, and when I wore them with a slightly heavier weight cotton sock they were snug (not tight) across the widest part of my foot, something I think will loosen up as I break them in. You might have a bit of trouble if your feet run wide. They're definitely on the stiff side, and will take some breaking in. My first night out in them involved a decent amout of walking-then-sitting-for-a-while-then-more-walking-and-repeat around downtown Cincinnati - they were comfortable, but they are a little heavy in general, and after a few hours I was ready to give my feet a rest. I think after a few more wearings the stiffness will loosen up and they'll be ready for more extensive walking and standing. As far as style, they are SUPER cute. They look awesome with pretty much everything, and I love the Tan color. I think these are going to be a great pair of forever boots.

Had some glitches along the way, but now I love my boots!!
I have been wanting these boots for a LONG time. I got a generous giftcard for Christmas and decided that this was my time to finally get my Fryes. I read every single review on Amazon and on Zappos. The vast majority of reviewers cautioned that the boots ran big and to go smaller than your usual size. I am so glad that I did not listen to this advice. I am a solid size 8. I actually ordered these in 8.5 and they are perfectly sized, could NOT have gone smaller. Yes, my toes are NOT at the end, I have lots of room down there - but these boots are narrow and I wouldn't want my toes any closer to the end. They slide on and off with ease. Look great with everything: skinny jeans, skirts, boot cut jeans. Now, the glitches. The first pair I received were perfect in every way except one boot was missing the black innersole that fits in the heel. I spoke with Frye customer service (they called me back at home about 5 minutes after I sent an email on New Year's Eve!) and they advised that I should return the boots to Amazon and NOT try to get a new innersole to glue in. Amazon was great too. They shipped a new pair to me that day and expedited the return of the "defective" boots. The second pair came. The right boot was thick, smooth, beautiful leather, but the left was made of much thinner, pebbly leather. They did not look right together and since they are so expensive, this was not acceptable to me. Amazon overnighted me a third pair. The left boot was better, but still not quite the same in appearance as the right. Maybe I am overly picky. Amazon called me to make sure I was happy and when they found out that I was still not overjoyed, they offered me a one-time partial refund on the boots if I wanted to keep them. Amazon really gained a customer for life that day. This experience might have turned me against shopping online, but their willingness to do whatever to make me happy gives me the confidence to continue to do most of my purchasing with Amazon.

Kick-@ss Boots
So I was riding up the elevator with one of the VPs at my company last week and he said, "excuse me, but those are some seriously kick-@ss boots!" To which I said, "Thanks. Aren't they, though?" I love these boots; they are so versatile. I wear them with my boot-cut jeans, or with skinny jeans tucked into them. Both look great. If I owned an appropriate skirt, I'd wear them with that, too. They take a bit of time to break in, but that's what you get when you buy really good leather. They are also very true to size (in my experience). I wear a 6.5 shoe size, but ordered these in a 7 because that's what I normally wear in boots. I kept them, but if I weren't so excited to have them (and a little bit lazy), I might have tried a 6.5. In any case, I recommend trying on a pair before you buy, if you can manage it. Now that they have broken in a bit, they are slightly loose, but not to the point where they rub or cause blisters. They are very comfortable, and I walk in them a lot. When I get home from work, I actually keep them on. In short: These boots rock. I get compliments whenever I wear them. They're worth the money, and will last for years. I am a Frye fan for life.

LOVE THESE BOOTS
Soooo comfortable, solid boot made from top grain leather. Ordered regular size 6 - perfect fit. Most Frye boots are a Li Ile challenging to remove so I picked up a boot jack

Runs large but still gorgeous!
I have wanted these boots for ages and found them in Amazin at less than half price compared to the Frye website. I ordered the tan crazy horse harness 12R in my usual size, 9.5, to wear with thick socks. Unfortunately my heel is slipping h out e en with socks on so I've had to return them for a 9, which I hope will fit perfectly. The colour is vintage looking (but the boots don't look old!), and the leather is soft and, I assume, it will only improve over time. The styling is fabulous. These will be great with skinny jeans and also cute dresses for the spring/summer. Despite the sizing being wrong, that'll be remedied soon so I've still given the product five starts for their overall gorgeousness and quality

Great quality and comfort as well as a good look.
Got these on sale here on amazon. I was worried that they would be fakes because of the price - $225 Australian dollars. But they arrived today and I am sure they are real! Leather is great, stitching good, quality fab. They feel great right away! I’m really happy with the tan colour - nice leather and a light brown with some black mixed . I’m Tammy happy with these and rally happy with the price. Totally recommend them- they look great and are very comfortable already.
