Fantastic snorkel - swim laps while keeping your neck in neutral position!!
I'm not really one to write reviews - which is terrible as I always read them before buying anything - but I felt compelled to leave one for this snorkel, because it has been SUCH a swim-saver for me (neck injury that's now preventing me from turning my head). I have been using this snorkel to swim laps for an hour, 5 days a week, for the last two months now, and it is amazing! I bought this snorkel, and the Swimmers Snorkel ( Swimmer's Snorkel Yellow ) , and ended up keeping this one. This snorkel has nice padding at the forehead (the other did not), and is completely comfortable during extended use. The other was actually painfully uncomfortable. This snorkel also has a slightly broader tube, which reduces the feeling of "breathing through a straw". And overall, from the color to the size/shape of fittings, this one just looks better and has a smaller profile (but lets be honest, you'll probably feel foolish wearing this!). Two things to note: you may find you need a nose plug and there is a brief adjustment period to the breathing. 1) If you don't exhale through your nose, it will fill with water and pressure. This has always been standard practice for me when not using a snorkel: turn my head, take a breath, and then exhale through the nose. However, I found it difficult to do with the snorkel (apparently not coordinated enough ha??). So, I got a nose plug - which although a pain to wear works great! 2) In regards to breathing, the first 2 or 3 times I used this it did get hard to breathe when I was really exerting myself. Basically, you ARE "breathing through a straw", so there will be a period of adjustment. However, your body DOES get used to it, and as your cardio health improves you won't even notice it. All in all, this is a fabulous snorkel, lets me keep swimming comfortably and I literally use it Mon thru Fri without any issue or complaints!

New swimmer, love this snorkel! The screw thing others have complained about is not a big deal....
So I'm a newish swimmer. I never really learned to breath properly while swimming when I was a kid. I basically would go from one end of the pool to the other holding my breath, or peeking my head up and losing all momentum. I just joined a new gym, with a fantastic 10 lanes for lap swimming that aren't very busy, and I really wanted to take advantage especially since I'm a runner healing from a Achilles tendinitis. To make a long story short, I can swim with this snorkel for over a half hour now. I've done about 6 swims with this snorkel and I'm loving it. Before I was lucky to get across the pool 2-3 times before calling it a day. Now don't get me wrong, this does make swimming easier for a newbie, but it's still damn hard work for the new swimmer. I still find myself sucking air when I do freestyle across the pool. So if your like me, and you want to swim and get some (if not all) of the great benefits of swimming without having to get the breathing right at the start this product is for you! This is particularly good for those that are dealing with injuries from running or other sports. If your a newbie I would also highly recommend watching the myriad of videos on stroke over and over again to help get your stroke right, and even better hire to help you improve your stroke if you can afford one. Also, there were quite a few complaints about the screw that holds the snorkel retaining piece together. Kraken Aquatics will send you a reminder to tighten the screw just snug enough so that the head piece can pivot some. It will come loose yes, but not to worry... just tighten it back up on the regular. It's come loose during a few of my swims, and it's not a big deal as everything just really stays in place. One other point, and I'm not sure how this compares to other snorkels, but I have rarely found any reason to purge with this snorkel. I can think of one time, and I didn't have any issues. So good on design that no water ever seems to get in.

Good, but takes getting used to in the field of vision
I purchased this snorkel so that I don't have to turn my head while swimming laps as I am developing arthritis in my neck. I was finally able to use it for the first time today and was pleased with the performance of it. It takes some getting used to as the snorkel goes straight up in between the eyes so you're looking directly around it. I would have preferred if it went off the side, like old fashioned snorkels, but by the end of the swim I was able to acclimate to viewing around it. It was very good in the fact that at no time did any water get into the tube from the top so I really liked that. My neck feels better since I didn't have to turn it to breathe so I like that very much, and I felt like I could concentrate on my stroke more efficiently than previously. I just wish I didn't have to look around it, that is why I gave it only four stars.

Better than expected
I have used a Finis training type snorkel for several years & it seemed to work well. I read about this product & thought I would give it a go but didn't expect much to change, after all, a snorkel is a snorkel, right? I read the complaints about the adjustment screw on the head piece coming loose & falling off so, I adjusted it in my house before my swim to get my perfect fit then snugged the screw tightly. It fits beautifully, I do not need to mess with it at all like I did with the Finis one. I put it on & away I go. There was one huge adjustment I needed to make, this snorkel works so well that I do not get ANY water in my mouth. With the Finis one I was regularly clearing the water out as it seeped in from the mouth piece of the occasional water through the top pipe. This Karken model worked so well that I actually had cotton mouth but I can most definitely deal with it! The overall design is superb & I will not use any other. I am a bit of a nut, bordering on OCD for having well deigned, highly functional equipment - I absolutely hate hassle & don't like compromising & this one is, dare I say .... perfect? Well it is for me & I don't think anyone else will be disappointed. Lastly, I do about 10 miles a week (18,000 yards) & do 1,500 yards each, three time a week using the snorkel for training purposes to improve my stroke & kicking alone. I say it to give some perspective of my experience.

Game Changer
I'm not one to write reviews but this snorkel is awesome. I swim for fitness but I am not a great swimmer. I can only breathe on one side (to the left) and that has created a muscle imbalance that my chiropractor told me I had to fix. This snorkel was the solution. Can't say enough good things about it. Wish I had discovered it years ago. I can swim longer and faster and my stroke has gotten better. Buy it, you won't regret it. It is true that you end up getting a little dry-mouth when you use it, but it beats drinking a bunch of suspect pool water. Keep some water around and drink it when you dry up. Problem solved.

The screw mentioned by others is metal and requires a screw driver to adjust
I currently use a Finis lap snorkel stability model. It has a cushioned section at the forehead that is comfortable but it's not made for flip turns as it has no one-way exit mechanism for water that gets into the snorkel. This Kraken model seemed like a better item. I did notice mention of a screw but I assumed the screw would be a plastic "gizmo" that one turns by hand to adjust. It is not. It is a real metal screw that requires a screwdriver to turn. While the metal probably doesn't come in contact with one's skin, still it seems to me inappropriate to have a metal part in this kind of item. While waiting for the item to arrive, some competitive swimmers at my pool were using an Orca brand of snorkel. It's not available on Amazon but you can find it online at smaller etailers that charge shipping. The competition swimmers highly recommended it.

Great Product
I swim a few hundred yards per day. My natural stroke is the breaststroke but that had been causing me some minor leg muscle issues so I thought freestyle might be better, but then breathing was a problem so I got this. It was simple to put together (just put the head band onto the snorkel) - a screw for tightening is in the headband piece that needs a Phillips screwdriver. The actual use of the snorkel when swimming probably is based on the individual. Personally, I had a little water coming into my nose (never had this happen to me before). That was corrected by exhaling through my nose, took a little practice to time the inhales and exhales. Noticed a suggestion here about getting nose clips, probably that works, but its an extra thing to carry around and I suspect that proper breathing will take some practice from anyone who uses this anyway. The elimination of the usual freestyle breathing routine is a huge efficiency advantage. I can now do my regular workout without muscle complaints and still get the physical benefits. Needless to say, it also goes quicker.

Amazing!
I bought this when I started swimming at a local gym. I had never swam outside of the occasional foray into a hotel's swimming pool before, so my performance was absolutely abysmal at first. I knew I needed something to help me because I was hurting myself by turning my neck to breath. The Kraken swimmer's snorkel was the ultimate solution for me. At first it took a little while to get used to because breathing underwater feels extremely unnatural and terrifying, but you do get used to it eventually. Within a month's time of using this it became very comfortable to use and I improved my cardiovascular endurance in the pool significantly. If this ever wears out I would definitely repurchase. This has been a great investment and has really helped me improve my health.

Mala experiencia de embalaje
Sobre de embalaje de papel muy maltratado, eso pone en riesgo la integridad del producto. Se maltrata vaya. Todo aplastado el tubo.

Excellent
Great snorkel for lane swimming. Comfortable and works well. Iโve even bought a second to have a spare.

Not bad at all.
I use this to swim against the current in my swim spa. So far it hasnโt let any water in. One star removed for the fidgety screw. Other than that Iโm happy with it.

I drank a little water, panicked and was laughed at.
This swimmers' snorkel likely works the way it should, but I did not enjoy it. I found it very easy to drink water through the snorkel as opposed to breathing air. Funny how breathing in water induces instant panic. Well, at least in me. User error has to be suspected as part of the problem, but after being fished out of the pool by the lifeguard, I decided the swimmers' snorkel was not my thing. It isn't super comfortable, giving the wearer a cycloptean feel, and like I mentioned, if you don't sort out how this fits on your head and your position in the water, you may not enjoy this. Superior swimmers and those with the ability to breathe water may feel differently.
