Big book filled with lots of information for your child to learn
I have always believed that ready with your kids is important so I buy a lot of books for my son. We bought several books in the National Geographic series and we love them all. They are packed with interesting facts and pictures. My son loves reading / looking at the books and we are happy that he is loving to read and learning at the same time. This book National Geographic Wild Animals Atlas is a book that is approx. 14 inches tall by 10 1/2 wide. It has many different areas to talk with your child about from different parts of the world, different climates, endangered animals, pictures and facts to learn. You can use this book to discuss a variety of information. My son also loves maps and there are several different types of maps in this book, giving us an opportunity to talk about how maps can be used to show us many different aspects, not just for directions. I am a happy mother and have a happy son so this is a win win for me.I hope my review has helped, if it has please push the button below. Thank you and God bless.

extremely useful book for an enthusiastic preschooler...
My 4 years old son is very interested in animals and I bought this colorful book for him. He is going through it every day even multiple times and I am surprised in how much he learns from it. The atlas is divided in sections and each continent is in one of them. It lists the animals living in that particular continent both in a schematic way where they show the distribution on the map and the actual National Geographic quality images. After this introductory page, a few pages follow related to the same continent and include pictures and information about the most striking animals for that continent. The text is kept in minimum yet it includes a lot of interesting facts. The authors of these book know how to penetrate into the mind of a preschooler and thanks to them my son knows all the continents with most of the key animals that are contained within. I have to admit that he knows way more animals than I do and more than that he can categorize them by matching them with their homelands.5 stars with no doubts...

Awesome book for the young animal lover!
When I taught elementary library skills, I used this book to teach third graders how to find information in a nonfiction book. I designed a worksheet that required the students to use the Table of Contents and Index to find information. I had 16 copies of the book so students could work in pairs or groups of three to complete the worksheet activity. The students liked the activity because they learned about animals (for example many thought tigers lived in Africa and that penguins and polar bears shared the same environment). Great book with wonderful animal photos.

Great book, like some of the other ones slightly more
I bought this book along with the Little Kids First Big Book of...series of books. This is a great book, but my least favorite of the group. I like that it is broken down my continents and shows what animal live where, but I find the information not as relatable to my first grader as the information in the other books. She does love looking at this book and had favorite pages and does learn information. It's a great book, just not quite as great as the others.

6 year old LOVES it!
My kindergartener adores this book. We are using it in addition to our around the world studies. My son loves when we get to the part of learning about the animals. I didn't think this would be a book he would want to come back to and read over and over but he does! He often sits down and reads this himself. The pictures are amazing and the amount of info is perfect!

Can't loose with National Geographic. The book was quickly snatched up by a 10 year old verses my grandson who is 6 year old, because he was still opening more presents. Parents got involved too! So, the book was quite the talk at the birthday party.

Great of young minds.
Produced by Nat Geo you know that it is going to be good. The information and maps are ideal for the younger members of the family. I bought it for our 4 year old grandson and he loves it, especially the maps and finding where all the animals live, an ideal precursor to a visit to the zoo.
