Skipped a beat or two
Warning: Spoilers! I really enjoyed book 1 and book 2 of the series, which merit 4.5 stars. This one diverges and slows down, loses a lot of dramatic intensity probably due to the separation of the two main characters. I did not find the episodes of Chance and Bhakutan advancing the storyline as much as they should have with most of those sections focused on Chance's flashbacks and with those insights only factoring in at the very end, and even then only tangentially. With Chance's personality so submerged, he was effectively absent for the entire story, with his occasional focus on "protect Ana" not enough to show a character development. It would have been interesting to have him emerge more, showing a solid (even if insufficient) arc out of the miasma of other shapeshifter voices, but instead he spends the entire book lost. Overall many of the conflicts in the story centered too much around teen impatience which gets old after awhile (but to be fair I am not a teen). Just when I thought I could not take any more of the back and forth between the two slow-developing character storylines, Ana somehow accelerates her learning in a way that is just not believable in the peak of the story near the end. Felt like a couple of scenes were skipped. To be fair, the author was really working at developing the storylines of Lifen and the students at her school, but it was not enough to wholly redeem the book. Still, I have enjoyed the series and look forward to the next installment.

The Best So Far
Intensity continues to build in this series causing this one to become a page turner. Ana is away in training on a piece of beautiful property in Canada. Chance is tormented with the dark energy of murdered skin walkers before him. Were they all just good people like him who had to make a difficult choice? Ana may be able to save him but she's unwilling to become defensive and he has become capable of murder. I liked this book. This story uses symbols for issues that occur in every day life and finds a real way for the hero to overcome.

Must Read!
As I said in my review of Fledgling, I bought the next two books. I have now finished both of them and I am blown away! This series only gets better and better. I love the story of Ana and Chance. They are meant to be together forever. I am so invested in their story, their romance, their love. All of the characters are so alive. The author has introduced them with such vivid descriptions that they seem real. You get to know them and care about them. I cried in some places and cheered in others. I can't wait to read the next book. This is definitely a must read. And I have found a new favorite author.

Maaaan!
What a wild ride this series is turning out to be?! You canβt accurately guess whatβs going to happen with all the twists and turns happening with each character. Absolutely fantastic story! I can NOT wait to see how it ends! I can only hope for no more innocent deaths, and a happily ever after for all that are left!!

Series started out better than it ended
The 1st two books in the series were captivating. I couldn't put them down. The story settings were great as well. The last two books were not as well done. Number 3 was better than #4. They were a little slower moving for me. But you need to read them to find out what happens to all the characters. :)

... shifter that was bounded to Chance's soul was to easy removed by Ana
The evil shape shifter that was bounded to Chance's soul was to easy removed by Ana. I felt it should have been more of a challenge for her. To quick and tidy. I felt a bit let down. I adored the book up till then. I was pleased with the final ending.

Excellent series!!
I absolutely loved this series!! I read the first book and just had to buy the second and third. The relationship between Chance and Ana is so strong and sweet. The way that they both fight to protect each other is amazing, and I cannot wait to see where it goes in book 4! I can't wait to see more of Derek, Jordan and Ryan, and their teacher/mentors as well.

A must read.
I have loved reading the stories of Ana, Chance and all the other characters they meet and interact with. All of the different cultural heritage and legends really keep you interested. Natasha Brown is a story teller in a million.

Emergent
This story has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride. Lots of excitement and a little sadness. A good ending too. Although poor Ryan has a problem. Highly recommended.

Disappointed
Not as good as the first two books. I wasn't convinced of the relevance of the storyline in this book to the previous books. I don't feel the urgency to read the next in the series . Am slightly disappointed to be honest.
