I would say it will fit in a car Cup holder, there mostly a standard size. So being such a well made cup I recon the designer would of thought of that😎

No. This is a great travel mug. Highly recommended.

Is the lid a hard or soft plastic?

the top is hard and there is a flap that opens and closes the sipping hole. it is a screw top and the seal inside is softer, one turn and it opens, easy. The bottom is soft (sort of rubber) so the cup does not slip.
