Beautifully-Written Resource for Alternatives to the BCP Eucharist Service
Not even sure where I first heard the words "Jesus gathered with his faltering friends, a meal that tasted of freedom". That's just one example of the wonderfully visual, topical and--yes--INCLUSIVE prayers that fill this book. Steven Shakespeare has provided a great resource for anyone planning liturgy that re-ignites the imagination and encourages us to hear a familiar story with "new ears".In additional to several full Eucharistic prayers, the book includes collects, prefaces, penitential rites and thanksgivings for feasts and seasons, following the (I think) calendar of the Church of England. But there is plenty here for Episcopalians or Lutherans to other liturgical Christians to share and enjoy.

Beautiful content - Kindle edition defective
This is a review of the Kindle edition. The edition is defective, and fonts are not consistently displayed, at least in the eucharistic prayers. I was thinking of the Kindle edition on a tablet as an alternative to using the print book in the context of worship, but the text, not properly displayed, remains small no matter how large you try to make it. It's a technical defect, and I wish would be corrected. Otherwise, this is a beautiful resource for those looking for inclusive and expressive collects, kyries (with penitential petitions), introductions to the Peace, and concluding prayers -- all based on the three-year eucharistic lectionary.

Much of it is liturgical.
I expected it to be more informal for daily use at home. I liked that it is in modern language.

Disappointed
Content is good but the kindle format, unlike other kindle books, disallows copy/paste. This makes it all but unshareable.Count me disappointed, especially since I found out a few days after it was returnable for refund.

Very good book.
This is pretty inclusionary. Almost perfect. Only problem that I see at this point is that the term Lord is used frequently in place of God... There are plenty of excellent references to God that makes this book spot on!!!

Love this book
We've been using these collects in our congregation for some time and find them much more geared toward the lessons for the specific Sunday, not to mention they relate better to contemporary issues.

A wonderful Surprise
This little book is a delight. I used the collects for Lent this year. I was unfamiliar with this work and found it refreshing.

An Excellent idea as was the inclusive Bible. A must buy for accepting Christians

The prayers are not patronising and are pastorally sensitive
It is most appealing to our call of the inclusive church.

Thinking outsie the box!
In this small collection of 'Collects' you will find a great tool to enable you - and your congregations/discussion groups - think outside the box in new ways. Highly recommended if - like me - you are frustrated by the out-of-touch verbiage from the CoE!

Awesome prayers
Such beautifully crafted prayers are a delight to use and an inspiration for preaching. The collects drill down into the depths of the biblical texts and strike gold. I'm afraid Common Worship Collects are history now i have found Steven Shakespeare.

Prayers that are relevant in 2013
A friend recommended it to me, and I want to use it both privately and in public. It has an up to date and challenging perception of a conversation with God.
