This speaker is pretty loud, but at the louder ranges the noise gets a little distorted. I would have given it more stars but using it as bluetooth is not very good. At first, it worked fine but then started cutting out constantly so now I just plug the audio cord into whatever I'm listening on. Doing that means I have to carry around my phone with the speaker. I love the design, I'm fine with the button placement and charging ability, as I own an android (charging cables are compatible with everything). I knock it over often, thanks to having to have a cord plugged in but the speaker seems no worse for wear. I keep it in my purse and aside from some minor scratches, it holds up pretty well.

6 months after buying barely charges and barely works now.
This is my 3rd bluetooth speaker I have purchased over the the last 2 years.I use this speaker to take to work and place in my pocket most of the time.First was a nakamichi speaker that just stop working after a few months.I ordered the JBL clip one and the battery would only last a hour at a higher volume and then it stop charging .The charging port is messed up.So after that i looked for a new portable speaker on Amazon.CB3 had good reviews .So i purchased it .The first look was that it was bigger than i thought it would be .Thought it would be a little bigger size than my cell phone. The design is nice with 2 speakers + middle subwoofer and nice metal premium design.Sound is good and Its fairly loud and battery last decent a lower volumes.6 months later the speaker is on its last leg.I did drop it on the ground from sitting down before slipping out of my pocket. The top metal plate where it plugs in fell off .It was cheaply glued on .The power but on the top is broken. The bluetooth will freeze up and make a load noise that sometimes wont stop or the speaker will then turn off and then turn back on.The battery doesnt hold a charge now . I charged the battery all night and got 1 hr of play time and about a average of 30 minutes now Speaker is worthless now.If you are looking for portable speaker to keep in your pocket or move around or take to the beach or outside. This is not the speaker for you .Not very durable.Might be good for the garage or for the office. Its a nice design but for $50 dollars i would expect to get more than 6 months life.

Good quality sound
When I first opened these up, one of the speakers had an initial buzz to it, and I thought I was going to have to return it as a defective unit. But this problem gradually went away with use. Good quality sound, not overly boomy with decent overall midrange tonality. Highs are not super extended - and as a result not overly intrusive with harshness. Has good mid-bass impact, falls off below 175hz quickly but still present lower bass quite decently , you can discern bass notes readily with these which is a surprise given the size of this unit! It can produce a quite decent stereo image which belies its size and 3WRMS per speaker is quite enough to make an impact with these. Bluetooth connectivity is excellent with a Samsung S6, Sony Xperia Z3, and a Lenovo W500 Laptop works each time, and another Lenovo X230T it works great but takes several attempts to connect , which could be an attribute of running a Linux platform on that machine. Battery life remains to be truely tested , build quality is quite good with the alloy metal casing. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a very decent sounding slim-line speaker that can crank up and play clearly while doing it!

Terrible for spoken word. Cuts off starts of words due to poorly designed noise gate.
If you listen to voice, such as podcasts, there is a serious problem with this speaker. There is a slow "gate" on the audio which mutes during silence (presumably to hide cheap noisy electronics), and it's very slow to open, meaning that if a narrator pauses for more than a quarter second you miss the starting consonant of their next work.

Looks nicer than it sounds and after all, what are we buying it for?
I thought I needed this. I misplace my portable speakers on a regular basis. Maybe have 3 or 4 in circulation now. I just got this and did an A-B comparison to the JBL Clip portable bluetooth speaker which is roughly the same price and I prefer the sound of the JBL. It's also smaller, with the clip. seems more durable so I gave the CB3 to a deserving family member. Not too impressed.

So far, so great!
I bought this speaker to replace a Sharkk Mini Portable that was constantly losing the Bluetooth connection with my iPhone and cutting out. I wasn't sure if the speaker or the iPhone was at fault (iPhones have had some ongoing Bluetooth problems) but the CB3 was cheap enough, so I decided to take a chance and find out. First discovery: this sucker plays LOUD! I usually played the Sharkk at full volume, and wished it went louder. At full volume, sitting across my desk, the CB3 was loud enough that I had to turn it down some. The sound is really good for a small unit like this. I ran it for at least nine hours on the charge and it was showing no signs of running out of juice. And best of all: it never dropped out or lost connection, not ONCE! My only complaint is minor: I wish the volume-up and pause functions were on different buttons--but I'll get the hang of it soon enough.

Purchased as a gift for my son. He loves it! He is very happy with the sound quality and likes the bass he gets from such a tiny speaker. Thank you!
