I wouldn’t believe it if I didn’t see it myself!
My nails split & peel. Always. Nothing helps. Oral vitamins for nails. Silica drinks. Strengthening polish & serums. Rubbing all kinds of oils into my nails. You name it…I’ve tried it. My nails look great for 2 days tops - then the polish peels, my nails start splitting and it’s time to start over. Then while looking at another product a review mentioned that it didn’t work “half as good as my Butter London”. Whaaat? Butter London? What is THAT? So I went looking for it.🤔 Hmmm…expensive for “just a base coat”. But, thinking “What the heck, I’ve tried everything else on the planet….” So I ordered it. I used it the day before we left town for a family wedding. Busy busy weekend - no time for primping or extra care for my hands or nails. Then it was fly home, pick up the pups, grocery shopping, to the vet for the big bark getting his neuter (finally) and then 24hr doggie care & supervision … and today I finally realized that my nail polish looks SPECTACULAR! It’s been 8 days and it hasn’t peeled, and looks so good! That’s some sort of world record for nail polish here!I’m sold: Butter London for life!!

Great base cost, but with a huge con for me.
I love this base coat on its own. It doesn't dry out my nails and applies smoothly. I would like to say it helps my nails' health, but I've been diligently applying cuticle oil so hard to say.My one con, and for me, it's a big one. I only paint my toes for reference. This base coat, though, doesn't keep my polish on my nails! The polish bunches and peels right off. The first time, I thought my polish was old (ok it is) and needed thinned. The next time I thought I painted my toes too close to bedtime. But, thus time.... I painted them on a Wednesday evening. The next morning, I had to touch up on toe before I flew. I wore slip on, closed toe shoes on the plane (but not tight at all). By the time I got to my destination 4 toes were messed up. On one the polish was bunched; another a spot missing; and the polish was completely off the last 2. I picked off polish on my skin on the bunched toe, and the whole nails worth of polish came off.Fortunately, I had brought my color with me. I touched them up (no base polish), wore sandals for several hours. The next day I wore sneakers foe several hours. I had holes in the polish on 2 toes, both ones that had base coat. The toes with just color polish on them were fine.I really want to love this base coat. I do think it's good for your nails. But it's not for me.* side note, the black cap pulls off, don't twist. There is a round twist cap underneath.

The ONLY product that has helped strengthen my nails!
I’ve only used this product three times in about a week and it has helped strengthen my nails when nothing else has. My nails split very easily despite taking hair & nail vitamins & taking collagen powder. As for the complaint about not being able to remove the lid, it is shaped like a rectangle, so rather than twisting off like other nails products, the lid simply lifts off and there was a sticker with an arrow indicating that; non-issue for me and will definitely buy again!

Turned nails yellow / impossible to remove
I do not understand the glowing reviews. I used this once with a topcoat of nail polish that I've used in the past with no problems. It was time again for my manicure here at home. It took a very long time to remove the nail polish (longer than usual). When I went outside, I noticed that my nails were still a bit shiny but YELLOW!! It seems that the color REALLY shows in the sun (5,000 kelvin) - - indoors, and under a magnifying glass, I can see something on my nails - the surface on the thumbnails is still shiny - even after attempting again with nail polish remover (not the gentle kind, but regular). But I also notice tiny marks indicating that my nail was actually rougher - like tiny miniscule chips! And, like so many others - I removed the label and noticed that it is not as advertised. the label says "Butter London - Patent Shine 10x"Well, that accounts for the yellow shine that I cannot remove.I've never had something like this happen before. AND it is not returnable.Regarding the top: It does not close all the way, I had to keep turning until it was tight enough to prevent spillage.Overall very bad experience.

Meh
I have always had weak nails - they tear and chip easily. Also allergic to formaldehyde, so buying nail products is tricky, and this product does not start me itching and breaking out with rashes. I purchased base coat, nail polish, and topcoat a month ago. My nails do look a little better and are growing a bit stronger, but more time will tell. The product goes on nicely and dries quickly. The bigger problem is that I can look down and see that a nail is bare - the whole sheet of polish just fell off. I can peel it of in a sheet - no polish remover necessary. This can happen within several days of use, so I stopped using the color, and then it is not so obvious if I am out.

Use as a base coat before applying your gel polish routine
So I actually purchased this to salvage my nails after repeated use of gel polish. I love the look & longevity of gel polish, but my nails pay dearly - it only takes about a month of gel use before my nails are so weak, brittle, and damaged. Ive tried several products in an attempt to strengthen them - but nothing really worked. Then I stumbled across this product and decided to give it a go. I'm glad I did. I took a two week break, using only this product. Then I decided I would coat my nails (2 coats) with this product and then apply the gel polish base/color/top coat on top. This made it incredibly easy just to pull off the gel polish after a few weeks, leaving me with a nice strong healthy nail. No acetone soaking required. This probably isn't how the product was intended to be used..... But it's how I intend on using from this point on. Use as a protective coat before applying your gel routine. You'll be amazed at how the gel still functions as it should, and how easy it is to remove.
