Dorman 42550 Rear Windshield Wiper Arm Compatible with Select Chevrolet / GMC / Oldsmobile Models

This rear wiper arm was a perfect fit for my 1997 Chevy Blazer. Easy to install using just a small flat blade screw driver to remove the wiper blade from the existing arm and a 1/2" socket wrench to remove the old arm and install the new one.

I was wary ordering this product due to the other review, but it was my only option since even the chevy dealer does not have this part available. A customer came into my shop and complained that the rear wiper on their vehicle had a bad motor. What had actually happened was that the wiper was frozen to the rear window, and when they attempted to turn on the wiper, the soft metal where the motor connects with the arm stripped out. It seems they do this to avoid burning up the motor, but it is much more of a pain to find a replacement arm. As the other review stated, the replacement does not have splines in the place where the arm attached. And the tube is through the hole in the arm. However, this does not present a problem to a knowledgeable mechanic. There are not supposed to be splines, the arm is meant to press fit onto the motor shaft to provide a more exact fit. As for the hose, you just cut off the fitting on the end and use the one already on the vehicle. The install was quick and straightforward, and the customer was very happy with the how cheap the fix was. Also it is interesting to note that most parts catalogs did not list this part for the vehicle year we were working on (1997 Chevy blazer), but it was an exact replacement.
