Do not buy this product
I have had this product for about 10 days. I plan to return before the 90 day return window closes. Avoid this product at all costs unless you want headaches with setting up your network. When this product works it is great — very fast speeds as an extender, approximately 30% of the full 300mpbs speed we get on our fiberoptic network. However, it works inconsistently. And, when you set it up as a sort of mesh network using Netgear's preferred settings (i.e. OneName so the extender shares a name with the WiFi router) the drop outs and failures to connect are maddening.I am reaching out to Netgear's phone support to fix but they're not giving any clear answers as to what is going on. Avoid this product. Avoid Netgear in general. (I already owned a Netgear router which is the only reason I tried this product.)

Save Your Money, Buy A Bridgeable Router
For a nearly 4,000 square-foot home, our ISP installed their equipment in the lower, front-corner of the house and thought their rinky-dink DSL router would be able to provide all the wifi coverage. They were very wrong, so we bought this Netgear disaster that goes by "Nighthawk" or "EX7700". We followed the instructions to the letter, even updating the firmware as recommended by Netgear, but still had issues with it. We ran this in same SSID mode, meaning it's basically an "extension" of our existing wifi and after the firmware update it ran great... for about three weeks. We noticed if it was turned on, we couldn't access certain Citrix gateways until we turned this extender off. Weird, right? So, after we were done working for the day, we'd turn it on and stream Amazon Prime until it just stopped working, forcing a hard reset and us having to set it up all over again. The fact you have to have a Netgear account to use the app to setup this device and secure its separate, built-in account is ridiculous. Asking for a Netgear password reset on the app account is like trying to get blood from a Turnip... if you get an email, it'll be a couple hours later, if not a day or two and the temporary password will be expired by then. Just buy a small home router for much less money that can run in bridgeable mode, setup NAT so you won't be limited to just 45 devices like this piece of junk does to you.

Used-like new. This was not seen when bought.
Well, first it was a pre-owned item. Likely didn't work, checked, thought it was good because it "powered on" then resold. I was the "victim"!Anyway, could not connect to any network in my home. Tried WPS AND PIN code which is found on bottom of extender. Could detect NO signal even though I had it sitting right next to wi-fi router as per configuration instructions. I have 20+ years networking/PC experience including 12 years at IBM. Tried resetting extender, no luck. Didn't bother calling "support" as IMO they are a joke and most customers know more than they do.

Not A Refurbished Unit ... Better Put Your IT hat on!!!
Although the unit works and the price was fine, this was not a refurbished nor an inspected unit. The last user's setup and password were still programmed in. The unit had to be factory reset, the firmware updated prior to install, and configured manually before the NightHawk App would pick it up. So, the Quick Start Guide was useless. Oh, well, the book itself was all crinkled up, anyway. If you have IT experience and can handle the extra steps (along with any other SSID changes, configuration, or security options), then go for it. If you need it to be a straight forward setup, you won't be happy with this option. If you do decide to buy this, you might want to do what I did and buy the protection plan. You can't predict what you might receive here, so at least you have some replacement options. I have IT experience, so this worked out, but buyer beware!

Not even close to advertised speeds.
On a 400Mb connection, with this 10ft away with no obstructions, it hit 100-106Mb. The link speed only hits 192Mb, so their advertised numbers are only from device to extender. Device to device link is atrocious, I even tried.... Multiple positions... Even at 1ft apart, you will never hit close to the advertised speeds. For the crazy price point, this NetGear is NotGood...

This didn't work for me.
I got it to mesh with my netgear router. Worked fine for a couple of days but, then had to reboot to get it to mesh back with AC2300 router. This process turned into a daily ritual. Now i am not a tech savvy person but, this ritual just didn't seem normal. Sent it back to Amazon.

NOT REFURBIDHED!!! Just a returned Item........
I had to waist an hour of my time registering a account just to get customer service..The unit was already setup with a login and password and needed to be reset..This item was just a customer return and never refurbished.. All they needed to to was press the reset button but cost me two hours of my time as well as frustration.. Plus I learned to get customer support from Netgear you need a customer account.. Unlike Linksys that I have always used before.. Also Netgear CS is only 90 days and I have never had a issue reaching Linksys after years of owning there routers and it was always USA bases help not overseas..
