NANO + POLY

Purchased both the clear and the dark cedar. Both worked well on some wood work table I have outdoors under cover but where they receive plenty of sunlight. I used two coats each of the clear on the sanded plywood tops and the dark cedar on the structure and legs underneath. Goes on easily, seals and protects. Appears to be entirely waterproof. Seems to be holding up very well so far over the course of several months. The dark cedar staining was a little hard to prevent being streaky but not too bad and is an attractive rich color. I really like the satin surface quality. The tables are easy to wipe down and clean. I've been using them primarily for clay work.

Well, now we talking about sealing...I have a little deck with stairs, sturdy lumber natural colored. My wife complain about the color are not much with anything, so she want me to make it black, with white railing around. Thus, after researching a little bit I went for this sealing. Best sealing I ever see around!. I applied two times, and a third just in case, but I don't know it really need it. The results were absolutely impressive!. After a rain you can see the drops just rest there, but without affect the lumber, like a piece of plastic sheet on the surface. Excellent!

If you spend any time online researching deck sealants, this product will keep popping up. So, of course, I assumed it was paid advertisement. Off to forums I went, and there too, Seal Once was the recommended choice. This product is a lot thicker than competitors and was really pretty easy to apply. There was little splatter using a roller. No strong odor. It dried to the touch within an hour, but I left it overnight to be certain. The clear version did NOT stain our deck, but did add a low sheen ( which we like). The ONLY negative comment would be: in a couple places we got a bit sloppy and didnt notice. So, now when it rains, those spots turn white. Luckily its in a place that doesnt really stand out. I have not found any spots where the sealant has not adhered or worn off ( we applied this about 3 months ago now). Imo, worth every cent. Will definitely purchase again when needed.

Bought the gray tint. Must have changed the lid as mine came with 4 metal clips holding the lid down. Pop off the clips and it opened like a regular can of paint. Shook it well & used a stir stick. I could feel a layer of … thickness on the bottom of the can, it was bumpy and if I pressed hard I could get a little of it up stuck to my stick. It would NOT stir in. I was concerned that the water seal ability would be impacted & tested it on a piece of wood. It does not seem to impact water proofing. Easy to apply. As others have stated, you MUST go back & put on the 2nd coat within about 20 minutes; if you don’t the 2nd coat just beads up & runs off. Had a couple places with knots in the wood & it took the color differently, lighter, so I went back after about 30 minutes to give it another coat (already had 2 coats on it) but it was too late, stain just beaded up & ran off. Consistency is like water, I was doing trim with some of it above my head - runs down your arm, drips on everything - just know this & be careful. I had two ladders set up, by the time I’d painted as far as I could reach on 2nd ladder (it goes on fast!) I would go back to the first & put on the 2nd coat. Easy clean-up. Took a star because of the sludge on the bottom, which I hope does not impact the longevity of the product.

1/2023 - Update I didn't remember to post in 2022, but I wanted to add a couple of pictures. I will say that am not sure if the product is going to hold up through six years (horizontal surfaces like the deck) as it's going on 3 years and I feel like I am seeing wearing I didn't expect. However, I am not a professional. I applied it with a brush and, perhaps, I didn't apply it as well as I should have. I am not comfortable blaming the product alone. Some sections seem to be holding up better than others. Currently, the furniture is covered up, but most of it seems to be holding up better than certain areas of the deck. It should be noted that most of the deck is probably close to 30 years old if not older. That may be a factor as well. 6/2021 - Update I originally posted last November after treating wooden deck furniture. This June, I treated the deck after having it power washed. Still thrilled with the product and the way it's working. I am adding 2 additional pictures. The first is after the deck was power washed and the second is after I treated/painted it with this product. You can even see beaded water on the deck 🙂 11/2020 I am posting a review of this product along with some pictures. I will plan on updating it each year as the product is said to last approximately 6 on horizontal surfaces and 10 years on vertical surfaces. First, let me say that I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. When the product arrived I found it to be somewhat thin. When I realized it was water based, it made more sense that it wasn't very thick. That being said, I have been very pleased thus far with the results. I did the application with a brush. As you will see in the pictures, it does what it needs to do when it comes to rain. I also wasn't sure what color to get. I picked the bronze cedar and when used on new wood, that is the color you get. It is beautiful! You will see the color is not quite the same (seems a bit darker depending on the light) when used on wood that has already been treated with a previous product (I don't recall what product or color was on the furniture that I re-treated) It doesn't bother me, though, that the color isn't the same. Now for the pictures. The picture of the deck boards that I treated show the true color. I have not yet treated the rest of the deck as I want to make sure to power wash and clean it first and won't be able to do that till spring. When you see the picture of the boards with the water beaded on them and then see the boards around it don't have beaded water, it's because the rest of the deck has not yet been treated. The pictures of the furniture show the "before" of one of the small end tables and the "after." It also shows an "after" of another chair and table set and big picnic table. Mind you, the furniture wasn't in the best of condition. The last time it was treated was several years ago. I am very pleased with the way this product has worked so far. If you do happen to see an area that was missed, it is NOT the fault of the product, but of the person doing the application (me!) I look forward to treating the rest of the deck (and furniture) in the spring with this excellent product!

I've ordered 3 gallons so far. I'm using this to stain the wood deck of a utility trailer. The first gallon was perfect, pitch black and very stain like in terms of consistency. It poured out like water and turned the wood completely black which is what I bought it to do. After realizing I needed more to do a second and even a third coat, I ordered another gallon. This gallon was a much thicker consistency and appeared to be a bluish gray. It had the consistency of paint vs stain. It also did not apply dark at all, and had a gray tint which eventually turned into a dark gray stain. I thought this might just be a bad gallon. I ordered a second gallon which arrived today. The package was crushed and stain was leaking out all over the concrete. The Amazon driver clearly took a picture from an angle of the box that showed no damage. So about 1/4 of the gallon was lost due to leakage. I could instantly tell that the consistency in color was the same as the second gallon I purchased. It's gray blue and very thick compared to the first gallon. I'm very frustrated that I have a trailer taken apart that I can't finish until I get a gallon that is mixed correctly.

I stumbled across this product as I was researching gazebo kits to buy, and thankfully another Amazon purchaser mentioned this product in their comments and sent me off in the direction to research it too. VERY glad I did! So far I've sealed two cedar chaise lounges, a small gazebo, a larger pergola, and numerous cedar trellises with the Light Brown color, and an outdoor TV cabinet & subwoofer cabinet with the Mahogany color. (See photo.) The color differences between the gazebo on the left and the pergola on the right is due to the gazebo starting off as a natural cedar color, and the pergola already being lightly colored brown when I started. The TV and subwoofer boxes were also natural cedar when I started, with Mahogany applied. In both cases, the consistency of color was excellent, ease of use the same, and cleanup was a breeze. I really don't understand the bad reviews of this product, and I'm entirely willing to write off any negative reviews to user error. I'm on my third gallon across three deliveries, and although the cans are shipped with metal retainers to keep the lid on, I did have one that had a very small leak on it. (It was tiny, but it was a leak.) Like any product of this type, surface prep is CRITICAL to successful results. In my case I had it very easy because I had new, clean, untreated, and sanded cedar to work with, so my prep work was limited to just wiping down everything with mineral spirits. The product is very thin with an almost watery consistency, and it needs to be applied as such - in thin coats. I found that applying the first coat the thickest (but not THICK) so it soaks into the wood works best, and since the product dries so quickly, following that up shortly thereafter with very thin coats to even out the color and coverage. Subsequent coats definitely make a difference in coloring, and it will consistently darken with each coat. (See photo of TV box door panel, the left side is one coat of Mahogany, the right side is two coats.) There were no problems with the product adhering to any of my materials, but again I was working with new, clean wood that I prepped with mineral spirits. (I would guess that old wood would need to be sanded & degreased & cleaned first.) For me, I couldn't be happier with the results. The gazebo, (the first piece I ever used the product on), is on its second summer in Las Vegas and still looks as good as the day I applied it.

Works very well, although they need to start packaging these better one was damaged in shipping and leaked all over the place. Make sure you stir well. Mine had some serious settling.

Good wood sealer, but you need to cover it every year to maintain the condition of the wood.

Not much to say but awesome product. Be aware, it dries pretty fast and requires you to apply evenly. Overlapping coats that have dried will be noticeable. So No “splash and Dash”! Lol

Great Product and hoping to get aerosol cans in the future..!

The product was easy to apply, but one needs to be very aware of the 20-30 minute time between first and second coats. Break the deck area down into smaller sections the size that you can apply the first coat in the time period but an area that you will be able to fully reach in order to apply the second coat. I used a brush which allowed me to really work the product in real well to obtain the best penetration on the first coat. My deck is Western Red Cedar which is a very porous and absorbs well so I needed to make sure to apply enough on the first coat to ensure a full penetration seal. The next most critical thing is to keep the leading edge of your application live or you will get a line between the the application stages. I live in the interior of British Columbia in Canada. Winters are long, wet, snowy and cold. Summers are hot and dry. All products that I have used in the past never make it through a single season. I apply them in May - June and they are gone by the end of December. I always have to fully sand and refinish every spring. Claims for Seal-Once Nano + Poly suggest I should get multiple years of use with out refinishing. Only time will tell. I am very hopeful but the jury is still out, as I only just finished the sealing.

Seal once brushes on easy and does not change color of wood. What is most satisfying is that when it rains you can see the water just laying on the surface as it will not penetrate wood.
