Non-chewers/diggers will tear this up
My chihuahuas have never torn anything up except a the rare dropped paper towel used to wipe up peanut butter or meat juice.I have bought many heating pads from this brand, and it’s pretty much the only brand I trust to leave on for short periods away from the house to keep my elderly pups warm in an extremely drafty ill-insulated old house while I’m out.I use this size pad in several areas of the house, on power strips so I can keep them off when the pups aren’t in the room - the pressure sensors on the pads will activate with even just a pillow case over them sometimes. However, this loose polyester thread felt-plastic-scrubber-like pad is apparently irresistible to them both. Our tiny girl chihuahua turns out to have pronounced pica issues… with absolutely nothing else but this pad, and I can’t distract her away from it even wrapping a blanket around it… unless I button a pillow case over it, and even then if she can get access to the felt at the corner where the cord comes out, she’ll start up again digging obsessively to try to get more of those plastic fibers out to chew and swallow big chunks of!!!Little old boy dog just likes to dig holes in the top layers.I caught the problem quickly, so I was able to peel the top half of the destroyed layers off and trim the excess.Little old girl passed the plastic fibers just fine, with daily doses of pumpkin at our vet’s suggestion to assist, and we’re keeping our eyes on her but she hasn’t repeated the pica with anything else now that the pad can’t be reached under a layer of cotton.I have a velcro onewrap cable tie system for keeping the pillow case shut with no gaps. So it still diffuses the heat well enough, better than the towel wrapped around inside a pillowcase like we did before, and this doesn’t require the inconvenience of multiple big diaper pins to keep the pad from sliding out.I can’t imagine that anyone at the competition actually tried using this item with their own pets before deciding that it was safe enough to sell, because it’s not!The heating pad inside is as safe as the others identical to it sold without the outer plastic felt sleeve. Which is as safe as anyone can get in a pad that stays on. I trust k&h as much as I trust my crockpot and my wall heaters. It still makes me slightly uneasy to leave them on when I leave, but the risk-reward balance is definitely in their favor over the instant and clear consequences in obvious joint pain levels and inability for them to walk for a day or few for my pups if they get chilled. So, nothing is risk free. I trust the brand, but this is the one instance where their material and design choices were extremely poor.

fit perfect
I purchased these two kitty pads for my two Catry cat beds I own (one for each of my two kitties). The pads fit under the cover perfectly! These beds are not soft for my kitties to lay on, but now the beds are soft, thanks to these kitty pads I purchased! Thank you!!

My cat isn't a fan
My cat is not a fan at all. He refuses to lay on these pads. So they are not for everyone. Maybe when the weather is cooler he will change his mind.

Not the same as older K&H products
My cat overlords demanded more heated beds. We have 2 older K&H heated pads that work really well so I figured we couldn't go wrong with two more from K&H.The heated element: These new pads just don't give off the same heat. My three cats prefer and fight over the older pads still because they get much warmer. I purchased a different K&H heated pad on Chewy thinking maybe my amazon purchase fail was just a fluke, but alas, it also doesn't give off enough heat. I think that K&H products just don't give off as much heat as they used to. :(The pad/cover: The cover itself is much coarser than previous pads I have had.

Works pretty well and seems to actually be safe.
I do regret getting the four watt model instead of the six I guess. The four watt is barely warm at all. I think the six watt version probably strikes a better balance. (You don't want it to actually be _hot_, just slightly warm.) That said, this still works just beautifully. My cats both sit on it quite a lot (they've very random about when and where they sit, so it's very hard to judge, but I do find them on it most of the time late at night when it gets cold) and I like that it is very low power. I've been a little scare of leaving it on all the time for them, but I hooked it up to a fused power panel and set it on something where hopefully if a fire started it shouldn't spread. That's me just being paranoid I think because so far it has been very safe and reliable and not once have I been woken up by smoke detectors. As others have said, the material on top is a bit loose and the cats do like to tear it up a bit. It actually holds up pretty well for all that they do though. I do think it would have been better to have something a bit more solid on top (perhaps just another layer on top of this material? It's very insulative and probably works beautifully for helping to keep the cats warm just on its own.) Perhaps it might be worth putting it in a pillowcase or something later on. For now the cats don't seem to be going to ruin it any time soon though. So while I basically recommend this, I think the six watt version is probably the better choice. I wouldn't want more than six though I think. Still, this one works just great and I definitely recommend one of these two. (And I definitely wouldn't want to go more than six watts.)

Left a film on my hands
Have used these for decades. But in most recent order the pads seam well constructed but include little plastic tag anchors that are a pain to cut away & fully remove for the safety of animals, and handling the pads leaves a film on my hands - that's new. I had to use this under an old pad so the cat would use its bed; kinda defeats the purpose of replacing the pad with new.

Had to buy multiples to keep them from fighting.
I bought this initially to keep my fat black cat from sleeping on top of my bearded dragon's cage near his heat lamp. It freaks Thor out. But after I set it up, my tabby cat found it and refuses to let Piper use it. So, I bought another one.The first pic shows Piper glaring at EC before I bought the second pad. I don't even know how long he sat there. Second pic shows both my loafs.Highly recommend. It doesn't seem like it gets warm enough, but when I slip my hand between their tummy and the pad, it's plenty warm.

Aceptable, aunque no es la maravilla!!
El producto no es nada suave para el tacto, aunque mi gata por lo menos duerme por las noches ahí, pero sigue prefiriendo el suelo por el día. Aceptable la razón costo/calidad.

It's very good at keeping her hair contained on the bed when ...
Update: It fell completely apart on one side when I washed it. The cat still likes it, but it's falling apart now.I was concerned it may be too rough for my cat but she took an immediate shine to it and sleeps on it all the time now. It's very good at keeping her hair contained on the bed when she rolls around. I have it beside a window that gets a lot of sunshine so it's almost like it has a warmer in it :)

Your cat will like it
It was sturdier than the generic brands I’ve purchased before, but don’t expect it to be soft. It’s scratchy and weird and my cats absolutely love it. I keep mine on the radiator cover and it definitely holds heat.

Baja calidad
El tapete es se baja calidad, la parte térmica no calienta tanto y no se puede regular, el material del tapete no es resistente se jala y se hacen bolas, queda como si fuera un estropajo. No lo recomiendo
