VellemanMK144 SMD Flashing Heart

I bought this for a practice kit for a friend so they could learn SMD soldering. Unfortunately, one of the supplied resistors was the incorrect value. It was 100 Ohms (101) - it was supposed to be 100k (104). Luckily I had some spares in the parts box.I was also a bit taken by how small the solder pads were, especially for the LEDs and transistors. Other SMD practice kits on the market have a bit larger pads for those wanting to learn.

Warning!!'' This is a kit ... it doesn't come nicely fit together in one piece. It requires a special soldering iron and the instructions are difficult. In 40 years there has been nothing my husband could not build, fix, or put together...but he CAN'T put this together. You would need years working on circuit boards to be able to accomplish this task. Unfortunately, once you try to put it together, it's too lake to return it. It's not a stretch to say this is the worst purchase of my life...Terrible....the description should have been more clear. Am I angry.....yes!

Ordered it but it never has arrived so i can't say weather i like it or not

My son was able to build this kit in about 30 minutes. This was his first time working with surface mount components. You need good eyesight to see the small chips. On his first try, we noticed one LED was not working. He was able to troubleshoot the problem. The kit came with two spare LEDs and some spare resistors. All components had spares. This problem turned out to be a good troubleshooting opportunity. He would have had this done in 15 minutes had it not been for the LED not working originally. He liked this so much we ordered another one to build for Grandma. I plan to film that one and post it as a video review. He built this one in the garage without me even knowing he was starting.
