No, although I don't think most people would need to. The built-in one is extremely good. I got a 30Mbit 4G service in a spot where my phone couldn't even get a 2G service outside

Does it work with a vodafone max sim?

Yes - I’ve got a Max SIM and it works fine. It improved my speed from a struggling and bumpy 55-90 Mbps to a pretty solid 140-165 Mbps, Really pleased. Best use a decent mast detector app before deciding where to site it / orientate it.

Hi, This is a brilliant idea and it performed very well. However you also need a good and stable connection to a mobile phone signal for it to do its job. My normal broadband speed where I live is 23/6 Mps dl and ul. With this device I got free PAYG sim cards from each of the 4 mobile phone provides and tested each of them. All 4 worked after a fashion, but 3 UK, Vodafone and  O2 were poor speeds because generally I am only getting 3G coverage and a weak signal too. Contrary to what their coverage maps say.  EE was better and I did get speeds of 100/45 Mbs but not consistently so occasionally it would drop down to around 2/0.1 Mbs. So I had to return the device as it was made unreliable by the mobile phone network providers. Depending on your mobile signal where you live it might be worth giving it a go.

What is the celular protocol for this item. does it work for tdd lte and fdd lte?

It works with 3G (HSPDA+), 4G, 4G+/A (LTE) on  european network bands and should work in both tdd & fdd as required, according to the 3GPP UE Cat 12 nfo when in LTE carrier aggregation mode. I have set it up and it works usually in LTE mode (single band) but also in LTE-A mode (2 bands).
