WüsthofGourmet 8" Bread Knife, Black

I've bought Wustof knives before and know the quality is very good. It was hard to go through all the choices that Amazon offers, but I finally chose this one because of previous experience with the company from Germany. I make artisan bread, which is rather tough crusted, and this knife handled the cutting easily!

This is the second time I have purchased a Trident bread knife. First one lasted about 20 years. (That knife was so sharp that I accidentally took a bit of a fingertip off with it while slicing a frozen bagel in half. Didn't feel it until after I saw the blood!) Recommendation? The design of the edge of the knife is extremely sharp but it cannot be easily sharpened back to original condition. So, figure the knife is a consumable and will have to be retired to other duty when it dulls. Save a few dollars by buying the less expensive version that does not have the bolster. The bolster looks nice but doesn't affect the function of the knife.

This wa a gift for someone. However it was very sharp and i had it engraved. The engraving was excellent.

This knife is awesome. It cut through fresh sourdough so nicely and smoothly. I was able to cut even slices of bread for the first time in I don’t know how long. I was very impressed. Hopefully it stays like this for a while and doesn’t dull too quickly.It also has a nice weight to it. Not heavy at all but still feels like you’re holding something in your hand.

I have recently taken up bread making, and this slices through like butter. This is the best knife brand on the market. Well worth the price.
