Melissa & Doug Children’s Book – Poke-a-Dot: First Shapes (Board Book with Buttons to Pop)

Our 3 year old has a bit of a speech delay and some adhd tendencies. The speech therapist actually recommended these and they've become our favorite books.Kiddo loves to " poke the dot" once he labels the shape. Started out on the first words book, shapes is our second, and it's working great

As an occupational therapist, I work with children with developmental delays. This book has been great for helping my children develop their fine motor and visual motor/perceptual skills. The dots are great for working on finger isolation. You can also have your child hold a crayon or marker and use it to push down the dots to work on their grasp skills. This has been great for kids that just don’t like coloring or making marks on the paper. I also love that the pages are simple (just shapes), but very colorful and visually stimulating. Perfect for encouraging language/communication and attention to visual details.

Gift for grandchildren. They loved the books!

This was a great suggestion to help my toddler point. It also makes a clicking noise when the tabs are pushed and my little on loves the sound.

14 -month old loves this book. Not sure he is learning the shapes yet, but he loves poking the dots. Great book for gifting.

Great book. Not all of the bubbles in the book popped and would pop back up.

Our kids (ages nine down to one) all love these kind of books. Great for sensory stimulation and just fun overall. This one was great for our baby as it's smaller. It also goes well in a diaper bag for entertainment on the road.
