Good preamp
Review for MAX9812 Microphone AmplifierWorks as it should. Someone's review here said that this mic lacks sensitivity... I don't agree. This is a great preamp! It is to be used as the first stage of a two-stage amplifier. (I did not use a coupling cap between the two stages.) I'm running it on two "AAA" batteries. I unsoldered the mic and connected it to longer wire, using shielded wire. Please know that electret mics are not known for high fidelity audio...this is not for professional studio recording. Anyway, prior to buying this, I tried to wire up my own transistor preamp but the bias wasn't right and I kept getting undesirable oscillation (whistle/buzz). It's easier to buy a device like this MAX9812 preamp. I'm happy with this purchase and am going to buy another one.

Not a very sensitive microphone for use with Arduino.
Works but not as well as I expected. I purchased this microphone to be used with a CW decoder and it's just not sensitive enough. You really have to have the volume UP for this mic to send a signal to the micro controller and I'm not sure why.
