Is the actual connector on the drive a usb-c? also, does it come with a usb-c to usb-c connector or are there adapters included the package? Thanks!

Tyler's answer is inadvertently misleading. I almost bought this based on his answer. On the drive itself, you can only connect with a USB 3.0 Micro B male connector (not 10 GBps). There is no USB-C drive-side. On the laptop side, you can connect with either USB-C or USB A 3.0. Hope this clears out any confusion.

i read online that this hard drive cannot play Xbox games directly from it, and that you would need to transfer games back and forth. this true?

I play many games directly off of my external HDD on my Xbox One. It works well and I don't experience any issues. It's only if you own a Series X/S that it is an issue. You cannot play Series X and Series S enhanced games off a HDD; these are the ones specially designed for the Series S/X. Non-enhanced games (regular Xbox One games not enhanced for the Series generation) work fine. However, you can move games from external HDD to the Xbox easily and quickly. So you always have that option.

I've connected the canvio flex portable storage to my macbook pro. what do i do to back-up everything onto it?

Your Mac should ask you if you want to use your new hard drive as a Time Machine backup when you first connect it to your Mac and it shows up on Desktop. If it doesn’t, go to the Time Machine icon in the Menu Bar and choose the option to Open Time Machine Preferences. From there you should be able to add a drive to Time Machine and you can select your new hard drive.
