Fantastic network card
As an IT professional, I use a lot of different hardware, and I do mean A LOT. I have 6 different computers on my desk at work, just for me. I also have a lab with 6 computers at home where I teach myself about new technologies, something every truly serious IT professional has (or should have). I recently had the opportunity to acquire a switch for my home lab that supports 10Gbps on some of its ports. It's an enterprise-grade managed switch that's very similar to what we use at work, so naturally I snatched it quicker than a hungry snake striking at a mouse. It affords me the chance to learn more about the management features in an environment that is safe to really dig in and experiment without fear of crashing the network at work. At work, I also have a 10Gbps link between a couple of my computers and the server rack. It's really nice to have when troubleshooting issues. It's also really nice for speedy communication with the file server. Network drives perform as if they are local drives. Since I got my "new" (to me, anyway) switch at home, I decided to go ahead and get a few of these 10Gpbs network cards to go with it. They are fantastic! The drivers in Windows were easy to install and work well, and my Linux box simply saw it and started using it right out of the chute. It really could not have been easier to get them up and running. It's been a fantastic upgrade to my home lab.

I highly recommend this product.
The product functions as promised. I transfer large files at 1 GB/s over my network to an SSD RAID. My only concern is how hot it gets during use. I’ve done some research and found that it is considered safe, but it feels very warm to the touch. To address this, I purchased a Noctua NF-A4x20 PWM High-Performance Quiet Fan (40mm); now the TX401 operates at a significantly cooler temperature. It should come with a fan.

TP-Link 10GB PCIe
It works great! Im reaching the speed that I paid for (5gbps fiber). Follow the steps below to install drivers and configure the network settings Install Driver & Reboot: Download and install the latest Marvell AQtion 10GbE network driver, then restart your PC to apply the changes. You can find the driver on the web link provided with the card. Open Adapter Properties: Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings. Configure Power Management: Right-click your 10GbE adapter, select Properties, click Configure, and go to the Power Management tab. Disable Power Saving: Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power, then click OK. Hope this helps!

If you're using Windows, skip this card
I bought TP-Link's 10gbe (TX401) card on sale after having Google Fiber 8gbit internet installed at my house. I also have a TP-Link AX16000 router, and multiple TP-Link switches. Until this card, I had nothing but great things to say about the value or 'bang for buck' of their products. Still no major issues with their brand, just steer clear of this card. My Win11 gaming machine kept randomly dropping connection under various load. Sometimes 1gbps, sometimes 6gbps. I didn't try it in my NAS so I can't comment. I had an extra Intel X540-T2 in my stash so I decided to put that in and give it a rip. Works flawlessly so I am returning this TP-Link 10gbe card. I tried various cables, drivers, settings, and all sorts of stuff to try to get it to work. Ultimately if it drops at random, it's useless. I was hoping to purchase a few more of these for our other machines in the house to remove my reliance on eBay 'Genuine' Intel cards. Other interesting behavior: it gets really, really hot. I suppose that's not surprising but I am concerned it doesn't have a fan on it to keep itself cool. I rigged up a 140mm fan near it and that seemed to cool it down quite a bit, but it didn't solve my issues. Aside from random drops, the performance copying files from my NAS was incredibly strange. My NAS also has an Intel X540-T2 and using my motherboard's built-in 2.5gbe (also Intel) NIC, I was able to get ~260-270MBps copying files over SMB. The TP-Link was all over the place: sometimes 10MBps, sometimes 200MBps. At random it seemed to do 800MBps with no real reason I could determine. This was between two Samsung 980 Pros on either end, so no caching/overhead shenanigans in theory. I'd be happy with this product if it was simply plug and play and didn't drop connection - even if it couldn't actually handle 10gbit sustained. I rarely see over 3-4gbit with Google Fiber (real world, not speed test) and my NAS drives top out at just under 900MBps anyway.

Doubled My Speed! Blazing Fast!
I bought this card because: 1) My existing desktop card was slow and flaky, 2) This was the right price and supports dual band (G and N), 3) had great product reviews here on Amazon. The good reviews are correct. Bad reviews, well while it's possible to get a bad card, I would suggest something isn't right with the person's machine, installation, or software / hardware compatibility. You should be able to install this card and be up and running in a matter of a few minutes. I would highly recommend also installing the software including the utility to connect to wireless networks. In most cases Windows will work fine without installing any of the software. I run this card with Windows 7 in a Dell XPS 8300 desktop. I was getting 30- 60 Mbps on my PC across the house in another room on a comcast 110 download / 10 Upload Mbps connection using an ASUS dual-band router and my flaky wireless Amped card. After installing this TP-LINK card I am getting between 100 / 130 Mbps. It effectively doubled my speed. I get full bandwidth use over wireless now, something that the comcast engineer told me was impossible. I tested on speedtest.net. YMMV. If you need a new card or are replacing an existing card, I would highly recommend this PCI-E card. UPDATE 7/22/2016 I bought another one, the high-end AC dual band one for a new build. It works fine with Windows 10. It didn't automatically detect, but with the CD driver install, just ran that, and boom! No-nonsense install and operation. I am getting 180 Mbps over my Infinity wireless connection just with preliminary testing. Downloaded half a gig in a few minutes. Smoking! I recommend this card to anybody and everyone, what a good fast card to have. Working great with an ASUS Dual band router.

Perfect for 5GB/s home internet upgrade!
Verizon Fios 5GB/s and this Network card is a dream come true!!! Getting 5.7GB/s speed. 1 Star less because this Network card has an issue with Aorus motherboards, The PCIE Slot its connected to has to be manually set to Gen 3 in Bios settings for this card to work, or else you will get constant disconnections. This can easily be resolved if they a release new drivers/firmware upgrade. Also make sure you plug in to the 10 GB port of your Verizon router(if you are not using your own) for the full 5GB/s speed. Other than that amazing product!

Highly recommended
Works amazing! Install drivers through TP-Link website. Kept dropping connection when gaming so i looked up solutions and all it took was going into device manager and disabling power efficient networking and it hasnt dropped connection at all. If you’re having issues, a quick google search can fix your problems :)

Good card, but you might need the beta drivers to solve connectivity problems
It's a good card, but you should install the latest drivers after receiving it, especially if you see random disconnects. The new drivers might just fix it. Details: I was initially very disappointed with this card. I purchased two of them, and both of them would frequently disconnect while running on windows 10 machines. Neither machine had problems when using their onboard LAN. Both machines were fine when transferring large files to each other's shared drives at 10gb speed, but internet speed tests would make them crash, even though our modem can only do 1gb. I assumed that the cards were both dead on arrival, possibly due to overheating. I was wrong. After I contacted TP Link, they put me in touch with a person who identified themselves as a Senior Engineer, and asked me to install a "Beta Driver". That made the connection much more stable. With the new driver, it would only disconnect very rarely when downloading a game from steam, but other use cases, like speed tests, were now stable. A few more months have passed, and now it no longer disconnects, even when downloading games from steam. I don't know if Microsoft patched something, or Steam patched something, but the problems have stopped with now further driver changes. The beta driver that helped me was: beta/2022/202211/20221102/win11.zip The newest windows driver on their site is: TX401(UN)_V1_221202_Windows So it looks like they may have now released that beta driver, or an even newer version, so you can get it without chatting with support for an hour. One final note: I read elsewhere that disabling 'Recv Segment Coalescing' for IPv4 and IPv6 could make cards that use a Marvel Aqtion 10g chip like this one more stable. I don't know if this would help because by the time I learned about it, my card was stable both with this feature on and off, and having it on seems like it might make downloads faster, so I left it on.

Satisfait.

Update: TP-Link 10Gb TX401 Ethernet cards still working great after 18 months
18 months UPDATE: Pros: My three TP-Link 10Gb TX401 Ethernet cards are still working great. Two of them are installed on Asus Prime X299-A II motherboards, and the third one is installed on an ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI motherboard. Now connected with CAT6 cables at full 10Gb stable speed. Two of the cards are installed in Hyte Y60 cases hidden behind the vertical GPU with their included 8 cm low profile brackets. WoL works fine using the free "Wake on LAN (Magic Packet)" app from the Microsoft Store. Cons: Sometimes, randomly, after waking up the computer from sleep, the network card may take more than ten seconds before reconnecting to the network at 10Gb speed. But this happens quite rarely. Original review: Finally, an affordable 10Gb Ethernet network card with Wake-on-LAN (WoL) that works! The TP-Link 10Gb TX401 Ethernet card has a hardware design that supports Wake-on-LAN (WoL). Most other 10Gb Ethernet cards from other brands do not support WoL. When the PC is put to sleep mode, the TP-Link TX401 remains switched on and connected to the network while waiting for a Magic Packet to resume the PC if this option is enabled in Windows. To run properly at full 10Gb speed, the TP-Link TX401 network card must be installed in a PCIe 3.0 x4 expansion slot. It is also compatible with faster PCIe 4.0 x4 to x16 slots. The TP-Link TX401 has a Marvell (formerly Aquantia) AQtion AQC107 chipset. All three cards I bought had firmware version 3.1.100. Instead of using the drivers provided on the CD-ROM, I downloaded the latest official drivers and firmware from Marvell Public Driver Downloads website. In Category, select Marvell Public Drivers and in Part Number, select AQC107 and click Apply to view available downloads. I updated the cards to firmware 3.1.121, and I'm using Marvell Windows drivers version 3.1.7. For my LAN setup, the TP-Link TX401 cards are connected to a TRENDnet TEG-S750 5-Port 10GbE switch. The switch is also connected to the 10G Ethernet port of the Bell Giga Hub. Surprisingly, I get a stable 10 Gbps connection speed over CAT5e cables with a lenght of 40 feet max. Even though the 10G speed is perfectly stable, I will upgrade the cables to CAT6 to meet the minimum requirements for 10G Ethernet speed. Files copy between PCs are at full 1GB/s speed using NVMe drives. Of course, I get slower speed with SATA SSDs or HDD drives. For internet speed, I always get the full speed that the Bell Giga Hub gets because the LAN is not limited to a slower speed. The TP-Link TX401 will auto negociate with slower LAN speeds (100Mbps, 1Gbps, 2.5Gbps, 5Gbps). I tested it with an older TRENDnet TEG-S350 2.5GbE switch and it works just fine at 2.5G speed. So far, so good. Very happy with the result.

Excellent product with super-fast and reliable connection speeds--perfect for condominiums
I purchased the TP-Link TL-WDN4800 Dual Band Wireless N900 PCI-e card, mainly because it allows you to connect to 5 GHz networks. Installation was very easy, and the package comes with an optional low-profile bracket (although I did not need it for my tower), and 3 screw-on antennas. After the card was physically installed and I powered on my PC (running Windows 10, 64-bit), the hardware was automatically detected and the driver installed. I was surprised at how fast it shipped, considering I placed the order late on Christmas Eve (Dec. 24th) and received it on Boxing Day. As soon as I connected to my 5 GHz network, I ran 3 separate network speed tests at [...] and consistently reached ~25 Mbps download, 10 ms ping, and ~15 Mbps upload each time. Since I installed this card a few days ago, my network speed has not degraded one bit, and I never experience the frustration of lagging out or getting disconnected mid-game. Therefore, I highly recommend this product, for the following reasons: - fast shipping - ease of installation - reliability - very reasonable price point (purchased for $39.99) For the reader's reference, prior to purchasing this wireless adapter, I had an AMD-branded Ralink RT3090. Located only 15 feet away from my wireless router, the PC had very unreliable WiFi connection--ranging between 0.5 Mbps to 12 Mbps (I have Teksavvy 25 Mbps DSL). After installing the latest driver, connection speed and reliability improved slightly, but I ultimately determined that living in a condo with dozens of other WiFi signals in the 2.4 GHz band was a huge part of the problem. I like to do some online gaming and occasional streaming / downloading, so reliable network speed is important.
