I bought this Ektology bottle for my son to use daily for water at school in August. I chose this brand based on customer reviews and because of the extra lid & lug handle that come with the bottle. What an excellent choice this turned out to be!--The ice lasts all day even with multiple refills from a school faucet. He still has ice left when he comes home after refilling the bottle 3-4 times at school.--No more wet school papers! This bottle produces NO condensation.--The lug handle makes it easier to carry, especially with small hands that also have to carry a backpack & sports equipment. It's made of solid, rigid material and holds up to rough use from my son.--The black sipper-type lid has been leak free and provides a much faster flow than just a sip -- perfect for sports and no bacteria ridden straw to worry about.--The bottle is rugged enough for a rambunctious middle school boy. He has mishandled and dropped it multiple times on rough concrete. As a result, there are several scratches and a few small dents in the bottom rim but these have not compromised the bottle's ability to retain ice and remain leak free.--The bottle fits in the bottle cage on our bicycles -- this was an unexpected bonus as I'd assumed it would be too large but it rides securely! This will depend on the brand of each person's bottle cage, of course. Ours are inexpensive Bell cages.In short, this is the perfect bottle for my son and with access to ice cold water all day, he is now staying hydrated. I've attached waterproof/non removable name labels to both sides of the bottle in hopes that it will never be lost for long. I can see this bottle lasting my son for years!

I bought this as part of a personal campaign to de-plasticize my life. With that, I have not used the non-metal components that come with this (except the silicon seal in the lid, of course). This bottle keeps my coffee hot for several hours. I haven't had any leaks. It's usually upright and occasionally on its side, so I haven't put the leak proof abilities through any rigor, but so far so good. The silicone seal will assume the smell of what you have in the bottle as is the case with all silicone seals. There are a variety of techniques to neutralize the smell that you can find online. I find that baking soda works for me. A couple things to note that are not drawbacks. 1) The opening is narrow relative to similar bottles that I've used in the past. I make my coffee directly into the bottle with a pour over dripper. My old one's opening was the same size as the rim of this bottle, so I went with a new dripper that has a narrower opening. 2) The lid has a d-ring that attaches to it through two holes in the top of the lid. Since these are holes, water gets in when washing it. So I need to remember to drain the lid with either of the holes pointed down so water drains out. Again, neither of these are drawbacks -- just characteristics of the bottle. I would definitely buy it again or as a gift.

I just received my order yesterday so I can't review the durability of the water bottle but I checked out reviews and product descriptions of many of the 20oz double wall bottles on Amazon before buying these. My worry was, will it keep cold liquids as advertised. I use a Yeti during the night for water - I filled the EKO with ice and water and the Yeti at the same time and left both lids off. 5 hours later they both still had ice, 3 hours later the Yeti's ice had melted and the EKO still had some. Not scientific as the mouth of the Yeti is much larger but works for me.Based on some of the reviews I was expecting the plastic cap to smell horrifically bad - it did not. It did have a slight odor and it comes with cleaning instructions to remove any possible smells.I wanted a double wall vacuum insulated with a flip lid and these more then meet my expectations.

When my bottle arrived I was disappointed that the plastic flip top had a strong chemical odor that would prevent me from using it on the bottle. I contacted customer service and the responded in a very timely manner. They had discussed my issue and recommended that I run the lid with the flip top open and the lids silicone ring through 2-3 cycles of the dishwasher - top shelf. They supplied pictorial directions. The process was east and it worked. This bottle really does what it claims - I use it for water and take it everywhere - the water has always stayed cold for a long time. I highly recommend this bottle and this company. Wish there were more companies like them - imagine .

You will not be sorry if you purchase this bottle. EKOTOLOGY has done everything right in the construction and execution. Amazing insulating abilities insure ice cubes will still be present a full 24 hours later, and hot drinks remain hot for an extended period too. No part of your drink comes into anything made of plastic if you use the stainless steel cap that comes with the bottle. No cheap plastic leaching possible toxins in this bottle. I probably will not use the drink thru lid, although it is well made and from a plastic considered safe by the industry. The jug lug type carrying loop that also comes with the bottle is great, making it easy to just grab the bottle and go.

WIthout a doubt the best vacuum bottle I have owned. It's stainless steel from top to bottom with the stainless steel lid. They also include a second lid with a flip top made of safe PP plastic which I don't use. The thermos keeps liquids hot for 12 hours, and cold for 24 hours. No leaks ever.Ekotology is a very environmentally aware company and devoted to pleasing their customers. They answers all questions and comments immediately and go the extra mile to please.
