A chain cleaner is most useful when it removes the old buildup without creating another residue problem, and Motul C1 is designed around that complete process. The aerosol formula targets grease, oil, sand, dirt, and road grime, then evaporates quickly so the chain is ready for fresh lubricant. It is listed as safe for O-ring, X-ring, and Z-ring chains, which is essential because harsh solvents can damage seals and compromise the lubrication trapped inside them. The directional nozzle gives better control than a broad household degreaser and makes it easier to concentrate the spray on the links. The 9.8-ounce can works for street bikes, dirt bikes, ATVs, UTVs, go-karts, and other chain-driven equipment. For a cleaner job, place cardboard under the chain and keep the spray away from the tire tread and brake surfaces. Heavy contamination may still benefit from a chain-safe brush, even though aggressive scrubbing is not normally needed. Most importantly, this is a cleaner, not a lubricant, so the chain should be relubricated after it dries. This is an excellent first step in a proper chain-maintenance routine.

Works great! Use the chain lube by motul as well. The best to use. This brand cleans the grease right off. I will not use any other brand. Worth the money.

This is the best stuff to remove the thick greasy residue left from your chain and road garbage. Perfect for o-rings and cleans the chain and sprocket very well.

Works Great! Used it to clean my motorcyclechain. 3rd time using it and it cleans it really well. You have to use one or 2 cans but otherwise it works great. Safe for o ring chains like on my 2009 Honda rebel 250

This chemical removed about 80 percent of the built up chain wax chunks in between the links even with brushing it. I used the whole can alternating brushing and spraying. It really did make the chain a lot cleaner than it was. Next time I will buy two cans. It didn’t streak the painted surfaces but I did do a good wash of the bike immediately after chain cleaning.

The formula melts stuff off of your chain and seems to work very well. I haven't got any recent experience with other chain cleaners except bicycle chains. This works better than any bicycle chain cleaner I have tried. It takes an entire can to clean a dirty chain though. Although the price is good this adds a bump to the price of riding. Cleaning the chain every 200 miles as recommended adds up to 5 cents a mile. Couple that with trading out the chain and maybe the sprockets and it gets a little less economical, but I mostly ride for fun and not economy.

Works extremely well, even with double O ring chains. I also used the chain cleaner brushes with this product and was super impressed with the result.
