A Solid Tool for Easy Radio Programming
I recently grabbed the BAOFENG USB Programming Cable with the CH340 Chip to program my UV-5R and a couple of other Baofeng radios, and I’m pretty impressed with how straightforward it makes things. If you’re into ham radios or GMRS and want to customize your frequencies or settings, this cable is a lifesaver. What I Love About It: The cable works with a ton of Baofeng models—UV-5R, BF-F8HP, 5RM, UV-21R, UV-5G Plus, GM-5RH, K5PLUS, AR-152, UV-17R, BF-888S, GM-15PRO, UV-S9 Plus—and even some Quansheng and TIDRADIO models. It’s super easy to use with CHIRP software, which is a must for programming these radios. I plugged it into my Windows 10 laptop, and after a quick driver install from the included CD (or you can download it online), it was recognized right away. No fuss, no muss. Programming my UV-5R with new frequencies took maybe 10 minutes, and CHIRP made it a breeze to save and tweak settings. The cable itself feels decently built for the price—100cm long, lightweight at 26g, and the two-pin connector (3.5mm stereo top, 2.5mm stereo bottom) fits snugly into my radios once I pushed it in firmly until it clicked. The Not-So-Great: It’s not perfect. Some users, including me at first, didn’t seat the cable fully, which caused CHIRP to throw an error—make sure you hear that “pop” when connecting it. The included mini CD can be a pain if your computer doesn’t have a disc drive, and the instructions are pretty minimal, so you might need to Google a tutorial if you’re new to this. A few folks mentioned issues with Windows 11 compatibility, though my Windows 10 setup worked fine. Also, watch out for knockoffs—buy from a trusted seller like ABBREE or BaoFeng Tech to ensure you’re getting the real CH340 chip. I’ve read horror stories about cheap cables failing or not being recognized at all.Overall Thoughts: For about $10-$15, this cable is a no-brainer if you’re programming Baofeng or compatible radios. It’s not fancy, but it gets the job done reliably with CHIRP, saving you from the headache of manual programming. Just double-check your radio’s compatibility and make sure you get an authentic one. I’d give it a 4.5/5—super practical, but the sparse instructions and occasional fitment quirks keep it from being perfect. If you’re a ham radio newbie or a seasoned operator, this cable’s a great addition to your kit

The must have for all Baofeng radios!
This dedicated programming cable is the must have for programming all types of Baofeng radios with the "Kenwood" type microphone input and this cable not an ordinary USB cable because this cable have the "chip" microprocessor for the radio to able to communicate with the software in the computer. I'm happy with my purchase and highly recommend this Baofeng programming cable to everyone who owns the radio, thanks!

Must have for any user of a Baofeng.
Works well, I use it often. CHIRP programs the radio (Baofeng GT3-MKIII, UV-5R, and UV-5RM) swiftly and accurately.

Works perfectly
No instructions and the included disc was no help being in chinese. Luckily, there was a short period for the computer to setup a driver and recognize the drive/port on Windows 10. No issues since. It works. Good quality and value.

Works perfectly with the Baofeng K5 Plus radio!
This cable worked perfectly with my Baofeng K5 plus radio. Even though it came with a mini CD for the drivers, my Windows 11 Home machine detected it perfectly so no need to load any drivers. Programmed my radio with Chirp and was very pleased with the flawless results.
