Lumimate 2x2 Feet 45w Ultra Thin Edge-Lit 5000k White Daylight Drop Ceiling Dimmable LED Light Panel Fixture (ETL,DLC)(1-Pack)

I have just installed this light panel over my computer workstation, replacing an antiquated single-bulb ceiling fixture.The reason I haven't given it 5 stars is I'll need some time to get used to it and decide if it is exactly what I want.Installation was easy. It replaces a panel in a 2 x 2 foot drop-ceiling. It fit in with no trouble. The biggest issue was doping out how to attach the house wiring to the unit.The box on the back of this light panel encloses the necessary driver circuitry. There are four built-in connectors -- two for the 'L' wire and two for the 'N' wire. Translation: I figure the 'L' stands for 'LIVE', meaning the black wire. The 'N' stands for 'NEUTRAL', meaning the white wire. There is no separate termination for the ground wire, but you can improvise a connection to the metal shell.There are four knock-outs where you can mount standard 1/2" stress reliefs. I only needed to use one, and I folded back the ground wire to get pinched in the stress relief, creating my ground connection.For the actual power connections you need to strip back about a half-inch of insulation on each wire. Then you simply push the stripped ends into their connectors until they bottom. There is a button on top of each connector that you can press to release the wire. Simply hold down the button and pull out the wire.Since there are two 'L' connections and two 'N' connections, you can 'daisy chain' two or more panels together. I'd be comfortable daisy-chaining two panels, more, I'm not certain.One reason I'm only awarding four stars. The panel's light flickers intermittently. I have noticed this behavior in other LED lights. It may or may not be a quality issue. It could possibly be momentary dips in the house AC voltage. And it may not end up being annoying enough to worry about. Or it may resolve itself. Or it may get worse. I'll update.*************Update: Just a few hours after installation -- panel has gone dim twice now. The first time for maybe 20 seconds while it appeared to be trying to restart. The second time for just a few seconds. Both times restarted and went back to full brightness. No other lighting was affected, so it was probably not caused by a sag in the house voltage.I have left email for the seller. I'm hoping this unit is defective and that a replacement under warranty will fix the problem. The manufacturer claims a 5-year warranty.In the interim I've deducted another star. Not a great experience so far, and I would not recommend at the moment.Update: It took Lumimate a full month to deliver a replacement for my defective unit. I installed it yesterday, and it seems to be working okay. I'll wait a bit to see if it remains trouble-free, and then publish a further update. In the meantime I'm giving it another star.Update: The replacement Lumimate has been working flawlessly for more than two months. I am very happy with it. It provides comfortable illumination for my computer workstation. I had been concerned whether it would cause eyestrain, but no, I can work for hours without any issues. I am planning on buying a couple more of these to illuminate another room. So I hope the manufacturer has sorted out whatever quality problem they had, and my next units will be as good as my current one.Update: In the past week I have installed four more Lumimate light panels. All four went in without a hitch and are working nicely. I brightly lit up a 9 x15 foot room with just two panels. I added light to a workstation with another two. The light is comparable to daylight -- it makes fluorescent lighting look yellow by comparison. I am upgrading my rating to a full 5 stars. I believe my bad experience with the first unit was an unfortunate hiccup. My subsequent experience with the Lumimate light panels has been entirely satisfactory.

Excellent light, but definitely not 5000K. I purchased this light to add additional lighting over a desk, and it produces smooth, even, and bright lighting. However, It is next to several lights that were rated at 5000K when they were put in over a year ago. Despite the color shift in the old fixtures caused by age, the difference in color is pronounced. The led light is yellow compared to the other lights in the room. I would estimate that it is closer to 4100K.

Installed easily in our suspended ceiling, they give immediate, flicker-free light. One panel failed after several months, but the seller was easy to work with, and readily sent a replacement panel under their 5-year warranty. Per an electrician I consulted, similar panels do seem to have a 10-20% failure rate, so sellers that back their product are priceless!

Bright light. Fit into my drop ceiling space.Directions were comical, but fortunately I have wiring experience.Just a good look at the symbols where the wires hook up was enough to understand how to wire it up.Can not comment on dimmer, I do not use one.The only suprise was the color of the outside frame, I thought it was white because the desciption says'white' and 'finished'. It is metallic silver. I didn't take a star off because the product works fine, justseems to be an error or misunderstanding by me concerning the description.

Great light but not dimmable. Tried two different dimmer switches and all it does is flicker. Would return it but shipping cost would be to much.

Units functioned well once I went to their website for a clearer idea of how to wire the units. Time will tell if they were worth $80.00 each.

Was a little skeptical about this fixture because it is inexpensive for a light of this type. Installed it easily and it is very bright with nice clean white light. One small issue is that it delays a half second after flipping switch before it comes on. Not a problem so much as an observation.
