Adventurer - Bushcraft Knife - Fixed-Blade Carbon Steel Knife with Leather Sheath and Firestarter - Outdoor Full Tang Knives - Camping Knives - Survival Tactical Camp Knives

I have owned this knife now for almost a year or so, giving it some work now and then. It is very well made. The blade is nice and sharp and sturdy. The design is simple, with a nice well weighted wooden handle. Sometimes simplicity is a design decision worth considering... This handle does not have specialized scales yada yada... And It really doesn't need them... The cutting dynamic is ergonomic, The carbon steel is well treated just make sure you wipe it off. But there are some other nice knives in this price point category: What BPS did to distinguish themselves was, to make you a first-rate sheath. If you threw the knife away, the sheath would probably be worth the price itself! The stitching is clean & strong, with nothing but leather, no BS... Just in case you were still on the fence? You get a fire rod that is robust and tightly locked into the sheath. Need I say, the knife fits perfectly as well. The ferrum rod works perfectly against the spine of the knife. The designers of this knife created a basic, sturdy knife with no extra embellishment necessary. The knife, because of it's present weight, with the ferrum rod included, could easily be carried as a secondary knife, a backup. It has all the capacity one needs. While I wouldn't baton with any knife unless I absolutely had to, I believe this knife would hold up worst case scenario being perhaps a cracked handle... There are a couple of very nicely made knives in this price range. Frankly unless the knife is bigger, or has a specific need, why pay more? For example, if I want something a little bigger, more robust, I could take the Moraknife Pathfinder, And I could keep this as a backup, giving me a fire starting system as well... With an additional lighter, I now have redundancy in my system, and I'm not caring a lot of extra weight for the added protection.

This is a high quality knife, I have 2 knives I paid twice this much for and do not meet this level of quality. Comes sharp as a razor right out if the box. Even the sheath is excellent. Very thick leather and sewn with tight stitching. The knife fits perfectly and looks great too. The knife and sheath is a tool that will be handed down to my son and I do not doubt my grandson. I have not used the ferro rod but I think it is a nice touch for an Adventure Knife. What amazes me is the price. After seeing and using this knife I can highly recommend it without reservation. If you're looking for a outdoor camping, hunting, fishing, bushcraft, adventure knife that will last a life time give this one a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Update: I polished the scandi-grind to remove the forced patina I had added from there and burned in the outline "ᛞᛖᚠᛁᚨᚾᛏ" (DEFIANT in the Latin alphabet) on one of the handle scales which I will later carve channels in the middle of and inlay with silver. That is to say I am really liking this knife a lot and making it my own. This is my new favorite field knife to actually use and have on me for camping, wilderness hiking, hunting, and that sort of thing. That might not sound like much but I have many, several times more expensive knives that are great, but they're so pretty I hesitate using them. This knife isn't designed as a show piece nor a collector's item. It's a high quality utility knife, straightforward, effective, and simple, sort of like the perfect cross between a Mora and a Green River. There's a very compelling, classic and yet somewhat unique utilitarian design to this knife. The balance is exactly where it should be, right at the top finger groove. The sheath it comes with is of the highest quality, and in most cases better, regardless of price that I have seen come with any production knife. How great the sheath is really can't be overstated. I have large palms and fists but medium length fingers and the knife handle is just the right size for me. Any smaller and it would be a bit too small, but it isn't. Those with extra large hands or long fingers might find it to be on the small side. The wooden scales had a little play but I tightened them up. The bolts are hex 2.5 metric. The closest imperial bit I have in size was a bit loose, so I do recommend using the metric bit, if you can. The knife I received did not come "razor" sharp, but serviceable, but did come with more of a polish on the edge of the scandi-grind. I fairly easily sharpened it further putting a very narrow convex edge on the edge of the edge, roughly one-third of a millimeter across, using one of those V shaped scrapers a little, but primarily a leather strop. Other than the sticky touch of your fingerprints, use a glint of light on the edge to see it, if at least one of your eyes are good. I put a "patina" (oxidization layer) on the knife, blotching on dabs of mustard with a q-tip and letting it dry, to tone down the brightness of the steel, and it took nicely. Afterword I washed, dried, and then coated the whole knife in a grease mixture I made of food grade mineral oil and melted beeswax which forms a paste at room temperature and works great for wood, leather, and metals. I'll probably eventually file off that extra bit of weird chin metal at the top of the finger groove and use the indent below the blade's edge to slowly shape the edge into having a subtle belly paunch. Overall, I highly, highly recommend this knife. It is an absolute steal in cost effectiveness for functionality and practical quality. There are a lot of reviews that talk about this knife but not a lot of them really bring up a few things I was concerned about as a buyer, so I hope this review helps anyone with the questions I had. First off, the size of the knife. It looks a lot bigger and a lot of knife reviews online from any site not only this one will mention "large size" or "larger than average" or "extra large" hands. I've included an image with my Victorinox Huntsman model as a show of how large this knife really is, because despite people saying it fits large sized hands my medium size hand fills the handle pretty well with about an inch left on any side I prefer. The knife isn't too large or unweildy but I would have likely gone with a smaller model from this company had I any experience with the knife prior - it's just a bit long for my taste. On another note is the handles, which fits pretty well right off of talking about the size of the knife. They have no swell and when the knife got here they were a bit uneven on either side. Part of what drew me to this knife was the fact it uses screw pins and fixing the handles only took a minute or so - after a small adjustment with just a screwdriver I readjusted the handles and they fit nearly perfectly now. If you don't like flat handles or ones that might need adjusting though, you'll need to look elsewhere for a knife. A big thing I noticed while taking it to a large branch to see how it handles moderate chopping tasks I noticed that the handles "slipped" some and needed readjusting again at home, though I didn't notice it at the time and I doubt it would really be a major issue. The knife came absolutely razor sharp - with a few issues. You'll notice that in the photos mine has a tarnish on it - the knife was pristine when it arrived and I purposefully put a slight tarnish on the blade with some vinegar so don't worry about that. The issues I'm speaking of are unfortunately regarding how even the edge grind was. The tip of the knife was and still is dull even after sharpening it by hand and attempting to reprofile it. I'm still working to fix that imperfection but it's tedious to sit around grinding steel. Despite that the factory edge itself was amazing and the edge I put on it with a Smith's diamond stone set is both amazing and was easy to put on there. Once this steel has an edge it WILL keep that edge, and keep it well. I love that about it, since what I personally wanted was a belt knife for the woods. Overall this knife is very nice. The steel is easy to work with while holding a solid edge, the handles are simple but look nice. The leather sheath it comes with holds it very well and dangles out of the way while walking. The only thing to keep in mind, as people have said in these reviews already, is that the quality control is spotty. As I said; part of my blade came dull and the handles were offset on arrival. If you don't mind possibly putting a small amount of sharpening into your knife or adjusting your handles a bit you can't beat what you get from this company at the price - at least not from my research or knowledge. Just don't expect it to be perfect especially since they make these knives by hand and imperfections will always result from that, no matter how few or minor. Despite what I've said and my rating I would like to encourage anyone to look at the other knives offered by this company if there's anything about this specific one you don't like. I personally really like their BS1/BS2 which has a slightly Kephart style blade and if I were to go back I'd have likely purchased that. This knife is good, do not misunderstand, but if you're worried you won't like the size or the blade shape and you prefer another model they sell grab that instead because you'll be happier with it, even if you'd be happy with this model as well.

The BPS Knives Adventurer exceeded my expectations. The carbon steel blade arrived razor sharp, holds its edge well, and performs great for carving, feather sticks, food prep, and general camp tasks. The full tang construction makes it feel solid and well-balanced, while the wooden handle is comfortable to use. One of my favorite features is the high-quality leather dangler sheath. It carries comfortably on a belt, keeps the knife secure, and allows for easy movement while hiking or working around camp. The included firestarter is a nice bonus and works well for starting campfires. Like any carbon steel knife, it needs basic care to prevent rust, but that's a small tradeoff for its excellent performance. While it's a nice gesture to include one with the knife, the fire starter itself feels like an afterthought—cheaply made and not up to the same quality standards as the knife. It works for basic fire-starting tasks, but it lacks the durability and reliability you'd want from a true survival tool. The rod seems small, the striker feels flimsy, and overall it doesn't inspire the same confidence as the knife itself. That said, this is a relatively minor issue. Most serious outdoor enthusiasts already have their own preferred fire-starting equipment, and the knife is really what you're buying here. A subpar fire starter doesn't diminish the excellence of the blade itself. BPS would do well to either upgrade the fire starter to match the knife's quality or simply skip it and let the knife stand on its own merits. Overall Assessment Despite the underwhelming fire starter, this is an excellent knife that I'm genuinely happy to own and use. The blade quality, sharpness, edge retention, and overall construction are all top-notch. BPS Knives clearly knows how to make a superior cutting tool, and this knife represents outstanding value for anyone looking for a reliable, high-performance blade for outdoor activities, everyday carry, or general use. If you're in the market for a quality knife and BPS is on your radar, don't hesitate. Just consider investing in a better fire starter separately if that's something you need. The knife itself absolutely delivers on performance and quality, making it a purchase you won't regret.

Im a survivalist. I am very happy to own this knife from Ukraine. The wood handle is smooth. No flaws. The knife is meat sharp. Very nice. The leather sheath is excellent. Its thick leather with perfected stitching. I wish I had the money to get two. If you want a bushcraft knife, this is what you need. Im glad I bought. The ferry rod fits tight in its holder. Thats a plus. Buy it. You will not regret it.

Nice quality blade and fire starter. Leather sheath is thick and sturdy. This is my second Adventurer, it's blade came like a razor sharpened tool, well done. The first one not as sharp or refined blade, but finished with food quality honing oil and high quality stone. This one gets 5 Plus stars. Also adding a Tung oil finish to the wood to help preserve, prevent chaffing, drying out and splintering over time. Well balanced and just the right size.

Brilliant knife, not just for the money. Easily on par with 200$ knives. Have been using mine for over a year now and couldn't ask for more. Will definitely buy more from BPS!
