Why it reads 0 on kinds of wood?

The reading on the wood is 0, indicating that the wood is sufficiently dry. Currently, it is known that dry wood is an insulator, so the current between pins cannot conduct electricity.

What wood setting would Redwood fall under?

I think that it would most likely be "B". I would consider it probably in the cedar family. I have used it for red cedar here in Michigan. I think that the reading at either B or C would be the best.

when and why does it read 0？

It is non-conductive between the pins of the damp meter. When he wood is too dry like a insulator, which leading to register 0 all the time.
