Nice ornamental grass

The grass is nice and soft and easy to grow. In the area that I spread the seed the grass sprouted in about a week with a single light rain. I didn’t water it in or cover it and it filled in a spot that’s been covered in bricks for almost 4 years. I live in area 6b and planted it in an area With both shade and full sunlight. This grass does better with a little shade, but is still doing well in direct sun.

I’ve tried for years to grow all kinds of grass on my sandy soil, and this is the only grass that takes and looks incredibly beautiful. My yard is still a work in progress and even more difficult to maintain with watering restrictions due to the drought in CA. This grass sprouts quickly within 5-7 days, and does not take much soil prep to get the seeds going. My goal is to have Dr. Seuss-looking grass. I have about 300 sq ft of yard and this bag was more than I needed for coverage.

I used this red-fescue to seed a steep area of my yard. Seeded in the fall and it came up nicely before the Vermont winter. The next spring, when the snow melted, the entire area was still GREEN. :-)I also saved some seed over the winter and seeded some bare spots around the yard. It too has germumated and started to grow.NOTE: Red Fescue is slow to germinate.... it takes AT LEAST 2 weeks. It is also slow to grow. (other grasses will be 2x taller in several weeks)I like Red Fescue because it is low maintaince and shade tolerant. After it is established, it can 'heal' bald spots in my lawn. (for example, if I dig out a tree stump)Red Fescue does need a SHARP, vacuuming, mower blade else it may not be cut by the mower. It is so fine that it will just lie down instead of getting mowed.Red Fescue looks just fine if not mowed too. This is my plan for the steep area I planted last fall.... just let it do its thing and help hold the soil inplace.

I was able to grow grass from this seed with germination in 7 days during 90-100+ temps. It took a lot of regular watering but got full coverage. Would definitely buy again if I ever needed it.

It’s advertised as being exclusively tall fescue, but now I have random stalks of what looks like another type of grass after reseeding with a smaller bag. Grows fast, but I’m not happy with these longer stalks of what looks like another kind. Also, this was all rocks and soil no precious grass in this area prior that could have snuck in

I've struggled for years to get grass growing in my rocky clay soil. Have used Tall Fescue in the past but never took really. This seed has come in good and lush. I ran out before getting to back area and wish I'd bought a 2nd bag but will be back to purchase more when I reseed in the fall.

I've tried other grass seeds in overseeding my backyard to eliminate the weeds. Within days after seeding my yard with the creeping red fescue, I have grass growing & pushing out the weeds. I bought another bag of seed for the front yard.
