Surprise, this lighter works great for it's intended purpose. Quality is great, as expected from zippo. This has been one of the best lighters I have used in terms of fluid evaporation. Typically, I can go around 2 weeks between fills.

It makes lighting easy. Ended up getting this and a dedicated tamper instead of one of those all-in-one deals.

Why are Zippos so expensive? They're like buying auto parts at the parts store, three different prices. Retail, Jobber and the sellers so called discount/store price. The sample I pulled out of the box had a little sticker on it, $29.95. In the Amazon sale page it was marked for $30.95 (crossed out) and on sale for $19.95. About as low as you're going to see it anywhere. Since I just bought a couple pipes, I needed something better than a Bic. I filled with some kerosene I hade left over from winter. Turns out it's not quite as easy to light as lighter fluid, and it burns with soot. So, once it runs empty, I'll get a can of lighter fluid. The lighter itself is the same great build quality you can expect from Zippo, although the case felt dirty and gritty when I first took it out of its box. Cleaned up nice though. Works as advertised for lighting a pipe!

So simple, so effective, it was hard to believe the advertising but this simple technology is just right. I tried all the other lighters and found them all lacking. This simple Zippo lights with every strike of the wheel (no other lighters will do that), once you begin lighting your tobacco the flame is shielded from all wind so it truely is not effected by wind. You use your own inhale to control the flame and light. It works so well I wish I had more stars to give it. Maybe I'm so pleased because of all the wasted time and money on other lighters and pipe lighter technology. Whatever the reasons...I'm am so very happy with this purchase and highly recommend.

It looks and feels very strong with a great decal. Also, did at first it was so strong but then worked like a champ. Finally, no problems and I expect this to be a keeper.

Perfect for lighting a pipe, dont listen to those that say you can taste the fluid. It's not an issue, not sure what else to say, it's just good. Has that classic look and feel.

Zippo makes the best lighters. Durable, clean design with a warranty that can’t be beat. The pipe lights easily and can be filled quickly. For a pipe you need a yellow flame so you don’t scorch and damage the bowl. This lighter is perfect. A gentle yellow flame with a design to place it directly over the bowl. Excellent ! Wat een super pijp aansteker. En hij is nog super mooi ook. Mooi met de pijp afbeelding. Dus mooi rustig. Maar wel robuust. En ook op deze zippo zit levenslange garantie op. En Amazon doet het weer. Voor een wel hele mooie prijs. Dus dank je wel Amazon. Want dit is wel de beste pijpaansteker die ik nu heb.

I have never had a Zippo lighter that failed me. This is the second lighter I have purchased - it being a standard flame version. The beauty of these products is the ability to replace consumables, such as the wick and flint with easy for a life time of use.

I am reviewing this lighter vs the VVAY pipe lighter I bought from Amazon previously. I will cut/paste same review for both lighters (VVAY vs Zipo, scores in that order) Skill required 5* vs 3* VVay is just a normal lighter, easy to use. Zipo has a learning curve, but it is worth the effort Safety 5* vs 1*. The VVAY is inherently safe, the Zipo uses petrol (not paraffin or something less volatile) and needs v v careful handling. I now know to leave it to stand as after refill as 1st time it covered itself and my hand in flames ! Aroma 1* vs 5* the same petrol smells wonderful Ease of use 4* vs 2* VVAY is a simple 1 handed press, Zipo needs 2 hands Tactile feel 1* vs 5*. Just can't beat the Zipo here. The magic "click" really is magic ! Lighting ability - score draw. VVAY is perfect but zipo better in wind Cost identical - both unit cost and fuel Practicality depends on how you smoke . Me - only at home, but if you take a pipe everywhere then the VVAY saves another tool in your pocket, although its small fuel tank could be an issue ? Conclusion - The Zipo is just fantastic to hold (and play with !). It's the one I use nearly all the time. Let's be honest - how many pipe smokers don't like tactile !?!?
