Perfect for what I need
Works perfectly with my Samsung 65" TV since it has only an ARC connection and I use this adapter to plug into my amp for my Klipsch speakers. Sound quality seems nice and its easy to set up.

Works As Advertised
This device works perfectly for what I needed. My laptop's docking station only has a headphone out jack, and if I plug a powered speaker to the jack there is feedback. So I use this to have actual speaker output to my powered speakers. The only down side is it looked like it was a return by the packaging and the USB cable was missing. Luckily I have plenty of USB cables. But I do not need a USB cable to power it it works just fine with the HDMI in Cable.

It is just what i needed for SOUND
just what i needed to bring stereo speaker (SOUND) to my small TV on my yacht when I am at home docked. Perfect setup placed right after the HDMI receiver with sound cable for the speakers!

Don't assume it will work with HDMI(ARC) port to get audio out.
I bought it for the special smart display to attach wired headphones using HDMI (ARC) port and redirect sound there instead of integrated speakers. The problem is the adapter cannot be identified as audio device like sound bar. It only fishes the audio out from player to display connection which makes it useless for the intended purpose. It does work to extract audio if you attach it to the regular HDMI port with/without connecting receiving device. I hooked DVD player and used it as CD player with the adapter and got my music in the headphones connected to the adapter. I did not test video quality.

This product works great. You may have to go through the procedures more than once to get your device working properly, but be patient.

Don't waste your money on this
I hooked it up exactly as shown. It didn't work at all. I'm an audiophile who sold stereos out of his dorm room in the mid seventies. I threw it in the trash and walked away.
