Helly HansenMen's Paramount Softshell Jacket

As described. Very comfortable. Size is true - I got a large and it is a good fit. I'm tall and average to thin build. I got a columbia soft shell at the same time and it is too loose. I prefer this jacket. It cost c€63 and so was very good value. I've only had it a couple of weeks so I can't speak to durability but it certainly feels sturdy and well made.

I purchased this because I wanted a light, good looking waterproof jacket for changeable weather in the summer. Top marks - it fits beautifully, the quality is superb and it looks great. I've owned other Helly Hansen coats and always been very happy, but this beats them all so far.

Overall this is a good jacket, good material and nicely constructed. I originally ordered a large, but it was a little tight in the body and in the arms in particular, so i returned it and got an XL. Delivery of both items was excellent. The XL is a nice fit, except for the arms. These are still a bit tight and ~20mm too long. I consider myself to have long arms and often find shirts/jackets etc. too short, so these must be exceptionally long. Once ‘broken in’ I think this will be a comfortable jacket.

I like this jacket because it’s light and does not feel like a windbreaker/ raincoat and it keeps your warm without a heavy coat feeling!

Absolute bargain for less than £50 but I ordered a L as it was so cheap expecting it to be a little small...in fact it's Perfect. More of an XL than L.

Light, breathable and dead comfortable.Never owned anything by Helly Hansen before, so hard (at time of purchase) to justify spending 70 quid on a jacket. But it was worth it in the end and it now won't be my last.Ideal for most seasons apart from the heavy rain or dead cold winters, but will survive most light showers and general days out.

I love this jacket, it has everything I look for in a sports or winter jacket, however in my case the shoulders feel too constrainer. The fabric in that area is bit tight, hence reduces the movement quite a lot, but the rest of it is perfect.

Waistband elastic broke in less than 1 year (within warranty).Helly Hansen support refuses to replace or provide full refund.Wasted my time going forth and back with their customer support.

This is an interesting jacket in the HH lineup because it fits differently from other pieces they make. I figure that's due to the Paramount being targeted almost at the casual wearer vs. the technical wearer.In that regard it fits longer at the hem and in the sleeves. Other reviews criticizing the long sleeves are correct and that's a valid criticism....unless you want longer sleeves. And at 6 foot 4, 225 and a dress shirt sleeve 36/37, that's exactly what I needed and why after trying dozens of softshells including tall sizing I chose this jacket.With good sleeve length, hem length and what I'd classify as an athletic cut the fit for me in Large is perfect with a nice slim cut but not too tight.The Velcro cuffs are quality and work well but even with thin wrists you won't cinch them much because the sleeves trim down well. The hem is adjustable with two cord setups on each side. However- and here's one of my few dislikes with the jacket- is if you cinch the hem even a little it puckers....and doesn't even back out when you try to smooth it out. Thankfully it's trim enough you won't need to cinch it much but if that's something which bugs you it may here.Functionally the outer material is quiet but reasonably water resistant and cuts wind well. The fleece lining is enough to make this more than a shell but not bulkier like an insulated jacket.Overall this jacket serves a nice spot in the lineup and will be a go to for all 4 seasons with various 1st and 2nd layer options.Pricing I would say the full MSRP is a smidge high and it makes more sense $25-$30 less but full retail doesn't upset me in light of the totality of the positives and usual HH quality.Most recommended.
