Hygroscopic product
I placed it in an airtight container and left it for three years. The lumps turned to powder. The powder residue smells acetylene or so.It reacts slowly with water to produce acetylene. It is best to consume as soon as possible. Store it in air tight container with special care.Cost about Rs 240/- for 100g which quite high. Recommended.

Wrost Experience
I purchased the "Industrial-Grade Calcium Carbide for Acetylene Gas Generation - Reliable Chemical Reactant 75% CAS. No. 75-20-7 (400 Gram)" with the expectation that it would generate acetylene gas efficiently. Unfortunately, it failed to produce any significant gas, which was very disappointing. The product did not perform as advertised, and I am highly dissatisfied with the purchase. I would not recommend this product to anyone looking for reliable calcium carbide for acetylene generation.

The pieces are too big to be used in the Calcium Carbide cannon...not effective as it should be.
