Excellent Book to Help Heal from Grief a Day at a Time
Truly an excellent book for anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one. Author has gone through her own painful loss and shares a compassionate view on how we each need to grieve and process loss in our own, individual ways--no one size fits all here. Presented as daily devotionals that are very helpful in healing from loss a day at a time. I also really liked how the author drew quotes from a diverse selection of writers, thinkers, philosophers, and scriptures. Someone gave this book to me after a painful loss and I have purchased it for many others going through their own journey from grief to healing.

Genuinely helpful!
This is one of the best devotional/loss books Iโve ever received. It was a gift after my son passed and I found it more helpful, down to Earth, real and thought-provoking than many devotionals.

Great daily reader for those who have suffered the loss of a loved one.
I received this wonderful daily reader as a gift after the death of my son last year. It has daily meditations written by various contributing writers offering helpful insights to help people work through their grief after a loss. I recently gave this to a friend after her husband and mother died just three months apart. She let me know how helpful the readings have been, offering a new perspective on how to work through her grief. I highly recommend this book.

I did NOT want to read about grief. This book has become my best friend.
This book has become my best friend. The daily passages reflect understanding, empathy and hope. It has helped me, and those I now frequently purchase it for, immeasurably. While not preachy or directly biblical it exemplifies Christian or spiritual love. When given the book I set it aside in a pile. The last think i wanted to do was read about grief or be reminded of the "stages." I am not a daily devotional girl. Well...now i look forward to time with my new friend every day. I guess it was on a particularly crappy day during Covid that I decided to read a page, just so I could tell my sister I had tried it. It must have been the right day for me, the right frame of mind or the right message. I began to read daily, turned corners of so many pages the book looks weird. Now I do the daily read and review those special pages when I have an extra needy day. I give a copy to those whose grief seems to touch my own heart, but always include a note about putting it aside until it calls to them. That's when they are ready. Thats when the new friend will be most helpful. One person, not someone I was close to, started to read immediately and we now have super helpful text conversations about specific messages or feelings. Others are likely still looking at it in their pile. The feeling of possibly helping others by giving this book has been an unexpected addition to my own healing and I encourage you to do the same. Include your number and be open to text messages that can turn into a remote and unobtrusive group therapy experience! It's nice to share memories and feelings with someone who wont judge or feel you are just being a downer!

Love this book
This is the best book I've seen for those who have lost a spouse. I've bought several for friends and recommended to others.

Greater writers than her.
Hickman, though not much of a writer herself as evidenced by her commentary, does manage to assemble many wonderful quotes from great writers starting with Shakespeare.

Comforting Grief Book
Great book for anyone grieving. Mentions god but not too much. Could match with any religion/spirituality. Comforting to have something to read daily.

Definitely recomment
My therapist had this book and would read me pages from it whenever we met. I lost a close friend of mine and there were always good things that she read from this. It helped me grieve and work through my pain and get back to a better place.

Absolutely beautiful.
It is what is says it is - a guide for the grieving. With short but profound thoughts for each day. Highly recomended, beautifully written and very helpful.

Irresponsible book binding by the printers
This is a classic book, that provides some solace and words express the loss over 365 days, and we can repeat as the healing is unending...but the printer, William Morrow (an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers) shows no appreciation of reading a book - for every page one has to prise the book at the binder to read the words at the inner edges (do see the image). The printer has reduced a 5-Star content-book to a 2-star reading experience - a disgrace to the dignity of reading!!!
