The Gamblin Reclaimed Earth Set is a limited edition oil paint collection featuring three unique pigments—Brown Ochre, Rust Red, and Iron Violet—reclaimed from iron-contaminated waters. Developed through a collaboration between engineer Guy Riefler and artist John Sabraw, this set supports environmental restoration projects for Ohio and Mississippi Rivers, donating over 20% of proceeds. Each 37ml tube offers crack-resistant, glossy finish oil paints, paired with a 6.5" primed cradled panel, designed for professional artists seeking eco-conscious, richly pigmented earth tones.

I read a review of this product that said....
... "one of the tubes's paint oozed all out the first time they opened it." So, knowing the nature of tubed oils, and since it's mid-July, I decided that when I got the tubes, I'd check for pressure and what not when I got them. Yup. I bought two sets and I checked all six tubes. The violet seemed ok. The red and the ochre were under a little excess pressure. One audiably went pufft, when I opened it, but it didn't ooze. Shoved a kebab stick into the tube, got a few more sssssst's, stirred it a littlebit. One was oily at the top and did ooze a bit, as if some oil separated fro the pigment a bit. That's not uncommon with oils. One tube, I wasn't paying attention when I opened it, then looked to see about 1/2 inch of paint erupted from the tube, then stopped. You can squeeze the tube the "right" way to get it back in the tube. Poked a stick into that one too to swish it all around. Going to let them all acclimate to their new surroundings but I sure am glad I read that review otherwise I'd have a few mini paint bombs lyin about.

Great colors and very cool textures
I love using these colors! They are so great for landscapes involving trees, or brown and red hair in portraits. The Iron Violet has become a quick go to as a cooler brown without leaning too blue. The Rust Red is a nice vivid color. The Brown Ochre is a pretty simple color. The other two are where the pack really shines- the Rust Red also has a slightly grainy texture that I love for some extra tooth on canvas or panel. Speaking of which, the prepared panel that the box comes in is GREAT and I wish I could get more- it's a thick backed panel that's already gessoed! I'll probably buy these again once I run out- they've lasted me a while so far but for those special spots I need them, they're PERFECT.

Good paints
I saw a video on people cleaning up waste water and other stuff from mining or something like that. The interesting part was that there was a company turning the waste product into paints. I already was a fan of the Gamblin paints so decided to try them. I love two of the browns, one closer to a reddish brown, the third is good, but wasn't as useful in the project I was working on. The paints are a good quality and smooth quality with a lot of pigment.

The colors
First of all, I have not had any problems when opening a tube with anything oozing out like some people mention. The colors are absolutely fantastic. I believe this is a great company to buy your paint from! I highly recommend it.

I bought these to help with the effort to clean the rivers.
They are good colors and seem to work and blend well with the other gamblin colors I use on a regular basis.

Nice colours.
Great addition to my palette. Iron violet is very beatiful. Use Rusty iron for naturally looking rust or wood. Brown ochre is another earthy brown.

All paint came out of tube when forst opened.
I loved the colors, but unfortunately one of the tubes has gas or is under pressure. The tube was swollen looking and soon as I opened it, all the paint just started coming out and didn't stop, I was unable to recap it so it just all poured out in a container, pretty disappointing as the price is not cheap and I'm not sure if there was a reaction of some sort...
