Do i re-charge this scale just by keeping it plugged in? and once the battery is charged will the machine say that it is? or how would we know?

Yes, it recharges when it is plugged in. I operate a produce stand and used it everyday then charged it at night. However, the battery lasted a month and replacement batteries are not available so now it only works when plugged in. There is a light that comes on to show it is plugged in but not whether it is charging. Save yourself some aggravation and purchase a higher quality scale.

Is this legal for trade ntep - if not i can not use it in my deli?

In the US it did not pass a Missouri Department of Agriculture Legal Scale. I could only use it as an estimate.

not bad for the price.

I got this three years ago and it worked fine till it just completely died. It stopped charging and the front pannel came off. It did the job for the price. I think it's good if you are weighing small stuff, maybe 20 lbs max. I would replace it with another but i need a larger scale.

Failed after 11 months, doesn’t power on…

I’ve used this at my business for the last 11 months (battery powered). Came in one day two weeks ago and it wouldn’t power on. I switched batteries, still no power. I then found a power cord for it and plugged it in and was at least happy to see it powered up that way. Well, one week later and it doesn’t power up with the cord either. Absolute junk. I suppose at this price point it’s just a disposable scale. I wrote the manufacturer and they said they wouldn’t replace or repair, but would be happy to walk me through troubleshooting. Lol. Not wasting my time. It has battery and ac power and one on/off switch. There is no troubleshooting, it’s just a piece of junk. Learned my lesson and will just invest in a higher end model from a different maker/supplier. Buyer beware.
