Cedar Ridge Silverthorne +5° Sleeping Bag

I love this bag. It's exactly what I was looking for... with one minor exception.First, the pros. The canvas outer layer is lightweight, more like a denim than what you would normally think of as canvas. But it seems very durable, again much like a denim. The flannel inner likewise seems durable and is very comfy. And while I haven't taken the bag into the field for a real cold-weather test, based on how quickly I got uncomfortably toasty after I zipped myself up in it on the couch I'd say that it's +5 degree rating is probably pretty accurate. The zipper seems pretty durable as well. It initially stuck a bit, but that was easily fixed by rubbing a bit of wax on it. And the bag is pretty roomy. I'm a big guy who tends to toss and turn in his sleep, but I don't think I'll have any problems getting twisted up in this sleeping bag.So why didn't I give it 5 stars? The stitching, which I noticed a few other reviewers mentioned as well. While it's certainly not bad, it could be better and doesn't quite live up to the quality of the rest of the bag. While removing the "Do not remove" tags, I actually ripped some of the stitching at the seam where one side of the zipper is connected to the outer canvas. Considering I wasn't being particularly forceful in trying to remove the tags, that indicates to me that either the stitching wasn't that great or else the tag material is absolutely incredible. Fortunately I had a needle and some thicker thread handy, and it was easy to repair the damage. While I don't expect to do anything in my sleep that would result in ripping off the zipper, I'm certainly going to keep a close eye on the seams when taking this out into the woods and will keep a needle and thread handy just in case.Otherwise, this really does seem to be a great sleeping bag. Even though it's rated as a cold-weather bag, I bought it to be my new all-season bag to replace an old Coleman that was getting embarrassingly threadbare. While I'll almost certainly have to sleep on top of the bag in warm weather, I'm really happy with the purchase and feel this will last for quite a while.

Finally a end to my endless search of a perfect sleeping bag! I have never been a proud owner to a new sleeping bag and the only one we had I have no idea where it even came from. My new job requires overnight stays and I decided now would be a good time to get a new sleeping bag. Granted I mainly needed it for inside a house, but realized it would also need to be used for various other extreme climate reasons. Being in the PNW region winter's always dip down low. We also go camping and a decent sleeping bag has been long over due.Being new to shopping for a warm quality sleeping bag I went with one that was very affordable and good reviews. I was extremely disappointed and returned it right away. Ended up choosing another one and it was okay but looked like someone literally had used it outside and was covered in dirt and debri. By than I was irritated and realized this wasn't going to be easy. I finally took a lot of time too really narrow down the best contenders and compare all aspects of them. That's how I arrived at this bag and it is exactly what I was wanting. High quality, durable, comfortable, not overly expensive, 5yr warranty and simple. Will be getting another one for the hubs so he doesn't steal mine.

I had to get rid of my old favorite sleeping bag this year, and this was a great replacement. Both the inside and outside material are soft and comfortable, it was the perfect size for me, and it kept me warm for a week of overnight camping. I also like the color.If anything, I'd say it's super bulky and is difficult to pack and unpack. Heavy and would not recommend it for backpacking, or any camping trip that requires you to carry it a distance. Could be a pain to wash?

I ordered two Cedar Ridge Silverthorne Plus 5-Degree Sleeping Bags. One bag developed an issue along the zipper at the bottom of the bag where the straps are attached. The stitching came loose, leaving a hole (as in a "feet sticking out of the bottom of the bag" kind of hole!) and allowing the compacting straps to come off. So, I had to repair the stitching by hand. It was not a difficult fix, but I would prefer not to repair a new $80.00 sleeping bag after only a few uses.Even with this glaring problem, my husband and I still LOVE our sleeping bags! They are big and thick with durable canvas on the outside and soft flannel on the inside. They are quite cozy and comfy. The zippers are high quality and easy to use. We would certainly purchase them again.

I bought 2 of these sleeping bags and have used both of them twice. I did some beach camping near Santa Barbara, California. I used the bags as more of a blanket there as the temperatures only got down to the 50s there. Honestly the bag was a little too warm, but I was admittedly using it in a warmer environment than I had purchased it for. I did try zipping the two bags together, which worked flawlessly. As a single bag there was plenty of room for me, 6'2" 250 lbs. This past weekend I used the bags in Sequoia National Park. The night time temp was in the 40s and the bags kept us plenty warm. I really appreciate the heavy duty construction. I spend about 20 days a year in a tent camping so a quality heavy duty bag is just what I needed.

Riecived this sleeping bag today and so far it looks amazing. I had canvas flannel sleeping bags growing up so I was very excited to find these at such a great price. Couple things I noticed right off the bat is that they are a lot bigger then I was expecting and sense we don't back pack that is a good thing! I get clostraphobic in most sleeping bags. The second is the canvas is not as rough or rugged as the description says. I remember my childhood bags being pretty rough but that could have been from years and years of use. I'm not sure if this will affect how much I like them but I will update this review after we go camping a couple times!

Purchased 4 of these for our kids for Christmas. We wanted good old school sleeping bags, something like the hand me down from the grandparents. The putter canvas does not feel as thick as the old one, but it’s close. The inside is amazing. We wanted something for the camper, or inside sleep overs. These are perfect. They are thick, heavy, comfy, I can’t say enough about them. I would agree with other reviews, these are to heavy to backpack with.

Lovely bag. Quite bulky but not to large to use in a camper. Certainly way to bulky and heavy for backpacking. Also flannel and cotton are not a good mix for damp or wet conditions. Extremely comfortable and warm, with lots of wiggle room inside. Zippers were a bit stiff and worked easy once lubricated. Stitching looks good all around and workmanship is excellent. Have only used it a few times and expect many years of enjoyment out of this bag.

I really like this. I was looking for a sleeping bag of sturdy construction made of cotton with flannel interior. It meets all of these criteria and is an attractive colour.Since it is somewhat heavy (which I wanted), I use a cotton liner inside. That way the liner is washed frequently and the sleeping bag will require less frequent laundering.
