Do I need to wash the cup before steaming?

Personally, I would at the least give it a good rinse first but if you really want it clean, soap and water, then steam it.

Is it easy for the cup to come out, the stem looks a little short?

I bought this for the steamer itself not the cups. The cups are short stemmed and can be a little bit more difficult to remove - but the steamer is great.

my steamer stops after 1 min or less is this defective?
